Last year he was well in front to a level stake and seemed to do well with limited ammunition, but so far this year not so good.

A trend or the vagaries of random stats?

The season has barely started, and he doesn't strike me as a trainer who has a yard full of early types.

Strike rate this season of 2 winners from 22 runners at 9%.  Compare this to the Roger/Harry Charlton combo at Beckhampton of 1 winner from 49 runners at 2%.  Jeremy Tree for one must be spinning in his grave at what exactly is going on there.

Thanks for the replies.

Obviously he had quality in Hukum and Minzaal last year, but not much quantity and he seemed to do well with what he had - over £40 up to a level £1 stake.

Over £16 down so far this year last time I looked.

Maybe things will pick up.
