Backed the horse ( was there ), blatant cheating !!
THE HAPPY HEAVENLY BIRTHDAY FRANK JORDAN 'NATIONAL HUNT' MAIDEN HURDLE RACE (CLASS 4) (DIV II) (GBB RACE)
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of JET OF DREAMS (IRE), ridden by Dylan Kitts and trained by Warren Greatrex, which was held up at the rear of the field, before being patiently ridden until asked for an effort after the last hurdle, which appeared to be a gentle, hands and heels ride, whereupon the gelding stayed on well to finish second beaten by 6 ½ lengths. Both the rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities, however a second examination approximately 1 hour after the race, revealed the gelding to have slight heat in its left-fore joint. The rider stated that his instructions were to drop in and get the gelding to settle, take his time and creep into the race to try to finish in best possible position, having previously made a respiratory noise. Kitts explained that having jumped slowly away in the hope to get JET OF DREAMS (IRE) to settle and allow the gelding a better view of the hurdles, he became outpaced in the early stages. He added that he felt it prudent to keep a hold of JET OF DREAMS (IRE)’s head after it had started to make a respiratory noise in the back straight, a matter in which he reported at Scales, in order to get the gelding to finish its race. Kitts further stated that JET OF DREAMS (IRE) had started to hang and jump left-handed from the bend turning into the home straight and felt that when he was able to get the gelding to race without hanging as badly, the winner had gotten away from him and that he could not have made up the ground between them. Therefore, Kitts believed that JET OF DREAMS (IRE) had obtained its best possible placing. The trainer confirmed the instructions given to Kitts and added that he was satisfied with the ride in the circumstances as he felt that the gelding had been hanging badly left-handed. Kitts was suspended for 14 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that JET OF DREAMS (IRE) was given full opportunity to obtain the best possible placing, in that he had failed to ride his mount in such a way that he could be seen to ask for a timely, real or substantial level of effort.

I was watching Greatrex post race, he didn't show any anger towards Kitts, it was quite obviously pre planned !

Who goes into horse betting thinking everything is transparent and above board though? We all know the system, sometimes you'll be on the wrong end of a stroke, other times you'll benefit from one. All part of the game imo.

That 5:55 Warwick was an utterly AWFUL race.
I watched it - out of curiousity - and without a bet - as I had looked at getting the 2/5 FAV beaten (as it had Never run over Hurdles) ... But desisted, as I thought .... NOTHING can Win this race   Must admit - immediately after the race, I looked up the market on the 2nd (Jet Of Dreams) - as I had thought ... What was that - That did not want to get near the FAV. Not a clever move by them, though - What if the FAV had tripped itself up (never having run over Hurdles) - as the 3rd had been beaten 55 and 57 lengths on it's only two previous outings. |

Warren Greatrex has defended the ride given to Jet Of Dreams by conditional jockey Dylan Kitts after the stewards gave him a 14-day non-trier ban at Warwick on Saturday evening and said the considerate handling of a problematic horse was evidence of the rider's maturity.
The runner-up in the 2m maiden hurdle was deemed by the stewards not to have been ridden for the best possible placing when six and a half lengths behind odds-on winner Soldierofthestorm. Jet Of Dreams was ridden in midfield and progressed into fourth, when visibly travelling well, on the turn for home. Kitts did not appear to put him under pressure until the final furlong where he finished strongly to beat 50-1 shot Rockette for second. Greatrex said the ride was not "all-action" but stressed the horse had issues with his wind – which was reported by Kitts to the stewards – and was hanging left-handed due to soreness in his near-fore tendon, so a more cautious ride was required and a more "vigorous" effort would not have improved the horse's placing. 'If he’d been more vigorous, would he have run better? No' The trainer said: "They [the stewards] have to make a decision but I think the lad in the situation did ride him to finish in the best position with a horse that hasn’t been easy, has been keen, and hadn’t been finishing his races. He was trying to the best he could on that horse. They’re saying he should’ve got stuck into him but I disagree. "Sometimes you have to give credit where it’s due and the young 7lb claimer has given the horse the best he ride he possibly could. Looking at the horse’s history, I was happy with how he’d ridden it. "If he’d been more vigorous, would he have run better? No, but that’s their decision on the day. If he’d given it an all-action ride the horse would’ve fallen in a hole. In my opinion, he’s ridden that horse like a mature rider and he’s done what I’ve told him to do. He’s got to feel during that race what that horse is feeling to him. He felt he was hanging and was making a noise, which he's done in the past." Greatrex said Kitts would take the verdict "on the chin" and hailed the rider as a bright talent. He has ridden 11 winners, with the majority for the Lambourn yard. "It’s a shame because he’s a very good rider going places, but we’ll move on," Greatrex added. "I’ve been lucky and I think I’ve made two champions in Gavin Sheehan and Harry Bannister, while Caoilin Quinn was with me for a few years, but this kid is as good as them. He’s got a serious career ahead of him. If he keeps his head down he’s going to be good." |

never watched race til now as I tend to avoid late spring/summer jumps after Sandown, unless something stands out big-time
that was as bad it gets cantering into home straight and then jockey runs into backend of weakening horses never put in race to win and waited til winner had gone clear and in no danger of being caught, do they think people won't notice  |

Interesting to speculate what happens next. Does the horse win because they were keeping it back for this race or does it flop which would justify the trainer and jockeys comments in the stewards room ? Answers on a postcard please to Mr Noa Idea , 1 Any Rd,

No doubt, before the race, the Stewards will ask the Trainer how the horse will be ridden today and remind the Jockey to obtain the best possible placing.
