Haven't been to Romania SQ, so was hoping you might elaborate on what makes it a great country to visit, great beer doesn't do it for me, nor tartar sauce.

jimnast been around Transylvania is incredibly stunning,don't write of Bucharest so much to see.If you are interested when iam back in the UK I will give more details to you.A few more bits and places to see.

When I was young and traveling Romania was a no go.Took me a long time to get here but how I regret that.
If you get the chance imo jump at it.

1 negative very few top class sporting events to attend,although Betfair accessible no problem.
On the positive plastic straws freely available.

Also Stanleybet still in operation.

transylvania isnt really romanian. it was stolen from the poor ol magyars, like a lot of central europe

must be quite safe there as all the tealeaves are over here

Romania is hardly famous for beer. Last there around 1980 when Communist -outside of a radius of about 400 yds of the very City Centre , it was all cobblestones. You could have a stab at what a shop was selling as the language was vaguely Latin/French, unlike Hungary when you wouldn't have a clue. Was very very poor but no doubt the EU contributions over the years have raised it up.

What a peculiar comment . I told you what was like in 1980 and made no comment as to what it is like today. I stand by my comment that Romania isn't famous for beer and never has been .

and the nazis brought up as usual when looking for something bad as a false comparison. might have been better to highlight communism as thats what responsible for romania being reduced to such a wretched and isolated state for so long

despite it being incredibly beautiful and welcoming and fun but the lure of the forum is irresistible

Hereford also isn’t famous for its beer but wye valley brewery based in Hereford is top class.

some romanian wine is excellent and it was famous for that until socialism revolutionised it

Isn't Hereford Cider Country ? One of the very few English racecourses that I've never been to -hope to make it in the next couple of years.

Good point manoleeds,it is famous for cider ,but wye valley brewery are superb,Hereford is a proper old fashioned racecourse good viewing and proper race goers,if you get a chance call into barrels I haven’t been to every pub in the country but I would be surprised if there was a better one.

ok jimnast will try my local s&m. do lover bargain. sadly for the romans, they cant get good money for their wine, such damage was done to its reputation. same goes for most of the victims of the ussr

there used to be a bottle of romanian pinot noir in sainsburys that was 3 quid a good few years ago. it was amazingly good and i bought all of it. even serious wine buffs liked it

Funny when I go to wetherby I buy how ever many they have.

Talking about drinks the world is going mad ,yesterday I went to Chester didn’t fancy any of there draft beers but noticed they had magners on draft and I don’t mind cider now and then,so ordered one well I couldn’t believe it when it came out maroon

whenever ive been to chester im always in the champagne tent. not that im in a hurry to go back. dont like it now

magners isnt any good. undrinkable and is made with concentrated juice. contains more sugar than coke original

Chester has become far to expensive to buy champagne plus it wasn’t champagne weather ,next week at York I will be able to buy two bottles for the price of one at Chester,to be honest yesterday I had to ask myself who actually wants a day out at Chester races ,we left after the vase and went to the architect pub and just popped out to watch the last 3 races from the wall.

last time-and it will be the last time- i was there it was 65 quid from wobbly memory

The Eternal Derby(Romanian )on Monday for me.Visited the Dinamo Bucuresti  Stadium today ,well worth a visit.

Have to say Romania keeps on delivering. Great atmosphere, game not the best Steaua very poor team.On to the next adventure.

Forget the beer the Olives really are to die for.Awesome.

We(myself included)in that sweeping slightly political statement have been fed rubbish about romanian society.Took me many years to get here(various reasons)how sad(for me) it took me so long .
