Not too bothered on that one. Looked to finish with a bit of running left, but jock had long downed tools. Won't be the last time this combination delivers for the bookmakers.

Exactly my thoughts, the first light touch of the reins the horse responded, never looked a bit intrested apart from the obligatory frantic shake of the reins with a few yrds to go.

Might be a different story in the last, maybe saving himself? Backed it but tbh hope he puts plenty of effort in as usually required with this stable.

Brilliant rides in both Classics. Nearly stole the 2000 and kept just enough in reserve to win the 1000.

I had a quid on at 230 about Hi Royal..oh well.
See Oisin is 6/4 for the Championship...anyone think he can do it again?

What he did in the Classics is part of the point of the thread. He should be giving maximum effort in all races.

Tatt, I think that Buick is getting more rides so it could be a battle for the Championship this season.

And Buick gets a lot of 'point and shoot' rides with Appleby, I suppose, sage.
Injuries/suspensions play a bit of a part, of course.

Of course not, but I don't the expect a jock riding a favourite (or any price for that matter) to just give up. He may not have been travelling at that stage, but that certainly wasn't the case at the line when he was finishing well under minimal effort.

You are basically saying that if a horse is not travelling a jock should just give up?

I had to take a second look at the ride on Lion Tamer.

Maybe he wasn't helped by the flip start, but he's ended up wide into the straight, and then it's just hands and heels from him with a single love tap, as though he was thinking he was going to finish 4th 'snug' without getting too vigorous. C Fallon more animated on the horse in the same ownership and gets up for that position.

Maybe that's as good as Lion Tamer is, time will tell.

Tatt, I suppose that Danger Alert was another armchair point and shoot for Buick in your eyes?
