What gets me when it's not on mute button is mcnae today and usually Stanley agree with everything what comes out of his mouth, now if you have 2 people discussing sport you would usually disagree at least sometimes.

He has been a full time pro unlike most of us on here . He was doing the tipping for the RTV free day at Recar this week and (if I remember rightly) got three of out the first four races correct, obviously said Concorde would win but didn't expect anyone to back it, put up the winner of the 16.30 together with another horse and I can't remember what he said about the last one. He was very approachable if anyone wanted a chat and seemed to be enjoying his day (he had some family with him).

He seems affable enough, and has a sense of humour. Struggles to mask his left wing inclinations. However, that's not relevant to doing the job. As the OP alludes to, he bluffs his way through most of the day, regularly forgets to turn his mic on, and regularly caught off guard when the host asks him a question. Nearing the end of his shift, it's evident he can't wait to run for the exit door and is already packing up when still on live broadcast. Other than that, great!

Back in the 90s I had a teenage dog called Lady, who was the best-tempered animal you could imagine. Whoever was kipping overnight for racing in the West Country - Eddie Fremantle, Steve Hamilton, Alan the Beard - she couldn't have been friendlier with all of them. Then, one day, Nevison turned up to give me and Fremantle a lift to Newton Abbot, and Lady simply would not let him in the house. In fact, she wouldn't even let him through the front gate. She just planted herself, barking in a frenzy, with Nevison stranded on the other side.
"Can't you do something about this dog?" "Just come in. She won't bite." So he opened the latch on the gate, and Lady duly tried to take a chunk out of him. "She's never done that before," I reassured him, the way dog owners do. Anyway, we finally set off, but Nevison had the car windows open. The lane was narrow, the hedges were thick, and suddenly he was being 'attacked' by a 2-inch long green bush cricket. "Wozzat?! Gedditoff! Oh Christ!" Not his day, though I think Norman Babbage's Rosie-B won that afternoon for the Internet Racing Club which Nevison was running at the time, so he came out a winner in the end. |

I remember back in the 80s someone who sold a horse to WGM Turner telling me he got paid the same way. That was back in the days when Bill Turner used to send 2yos up from Dorset to target sellers at Hamilton.
