I your complaint that the Win price is not the EW price?  The makeup of the market is a classic "bad EW" one - very short priced favourite, so the true Win odds of the second favourite would create an implied Place price far in excess of the horse's likely chance of placing.

The old Chapman argument of the exchange being a win only market as if people can't bet place only on here. I'm sure you are not finding it hard to follow at all and just want to make this tired old argument in support of the old each way bet. What is required are separate win and place markets to reflect the proper odds.

we have win and place separately on here so what is the problem? I always look hard at a 4/1 win shot that is better than evens a place which happens in competitive handicaps. If you were a bookmaker and faced with an 8 runner race in which the best 2 were around even money or 5/4 and the rest 20/1 shots. One of the 20/1 shots is significantly better then the rest so what price do you offer each way?

The answer is don't back a horse that is outside those “ big two “ for a win  in such a race as the rules are not in your favour.

Well if you back an outsider and it wins you might just a big difference in your winnings. This is no longer the 1990s.
