I liked it. The course is in a nicer part of the town, I found the people friendly and ok the town itself has seen better days its not that bad, at least in daylight.

Can recall going as a child about 60 years ago i think it was a weeks holiday  it was then the people of Darlos holiday place to go never been to the town or course for over 15 years, when you are back on the train from Redcar to Darlo you will think  to yourself i know how these war torn places look.

Hope you are well.

The Bongo club in the Boro would have been a nice stop off point on your way back home.

I'm going and have got a VIP ticket so I get free tea and coffee and a talk from a tipster -anyone know who it is? Only fly in the ointment is if the Transpennine from Manchester Airport to Saltburn gets cancelled -and TP have cancelled a lot recently. Have been told that O'Gradys does good beer and food.

It's usually pretty decent racing and an easy enough journey but could do with a nice few quid spending on it,where as the likes of Thirsk And Catterick have invested in new facilities Redcar has stood still and it shows.

mano-the rail system on the norf is a disgrace, as you know. a tiny fraction of what is being butned on hs2 would revitalise the thing beyond belief. drives me crackers. there should be high-speed trains between leeds-liverpool and all points in-between like there are in civilised countries like germany. their rail service is fantastic

every train has a bar and good nosebag. i didnt want to get off

re Catterick went last Wednesday with Bill S after a gap of 20 years, couldn't believe how much it had changed, facilities were excellent.

However sad to Say Bill and I stood in the Betting ring and both said how soulless it was, we reminisced about the old days when Pat, Michael G, Colin, LRS, Jr, Alex and my good friend Reg from the Lido nightclub days in Paris and your pal FAP had pitches, great days.

see you  in 2 weeks

Indeed Ronnie, I think Catterick is the deadest ring in the north,I went a bit this winter and enjoyed it but the only bit of action seems to be in the first couple of rails pitches.

thanks ronnie , the bongo club ! lol ....we used to have a place in manchester in the eighties ; the top cat club .50 p life membership ( which could be great value or about an hour depending on  who you bumped into ) . it was a filthy hole . once we had to pick our feet up whist they rolled up the beer sodden carpet . shut down then , surprise , was burned down . using my redcar day as a sighter for the start of flat season proper at york .
