I remember a comment made by John Gough, decades ago.
He said to the effect; ''all the tools you need to be a successful gambler are readily available.
But as far as most punters are concerned, the form book might as well be written in Latin.''

I didn’t say that, he did.
So please don’t take your shortcomings out on me. Lol.

"The form book is an excellent guide to what has happened in the past" - Wise punters everywhere.

Dodger McCartney, on spotting a punter leafing through Chaseform Notebook in the Tote Credit office at Worcester: "You don't want to carry that about with you - if you have an accident and they find that on you, they won't let you out."

Punter: "Eh?"

Dodger: "You'll get put in the bin. Committed. It's all written by a blind woman."

Which was a bit unfair on Mary Truman, because she didn't write all of it.

VDW mentioned the Dodger in one of his articles.
He referred to Dodger as a certain professed “pro”  after he'd appeared on the telly.
The Dodger tipped three horses that day, and they all went down.

VDW, wasn’t very complimentary.
