How does Chalk go off favourite after being installed at the front of the market having been off the track seven months and came tenth then? Can anyone tell me how the odds compilers do it? Tarot cards or telephones?

If following a weight of money was the secret then the lives of many horse players would have been far rosier. My question was they opened Chalk Mountain up shortish. Was also around favourite, was never a longy. So how do they know without information being passed contrary to the rules? Guesswork? Crystal ball?

One fine day you'll open the Racing Post and some c unt will have written an article with the headline: SO HOW DO BOOKIES MAKE A WELL BEATEN, WINLESS, PLACELESS HORSE FAVOURITE AFTER EIGHT MONTHS OFF? Then you'll wake up. I'd love to see the quotes from the odds compilers. 'Er well, like, well, we sort of like, well er, we sort of like, well, one of us is like into water-divining and we do a bit of that and then, er, I got a luck rabbit's foot and, er, er . . .'

Exchanges have made it so easy for them. In the morning 9am 10am. 11am. There is so little money in the exchange. Anyone can move horses several points with little money. With up or down.

Why should I find a new hobby, I do all right at this one. I don't come here to crow like so many do about their fantasy gambling lives. I come here to ask questions.
