Seems strange that Wincanton have divided the bumper to make 2 races of 6 and 5 runners,anyone know of why this has been done.

Only half listening to pundit at mid-day but he suggested there was a chase of some sort that only had 3 entered so was scrapped and so tptb divided the bumper to give an 8 race card.

originally there was meant to be a novice hunter chase, but that was cancelled when just 3 entries, rules allow them to split the bumper to make 7 races, but then the maiden hurdle had a large entry and split to leave 8 races.

Thanks for the replies, seems it was down to the hunter chase been cancelled.Just seemed odd as we are told far less money is bet when fields drop below 8 runners thus returning less money to racing.
