There were 3 or 4 different favourites on the day, so I'd not read too much into it.
Report impossible123 April 16, 2023 2:02 PM BST
The winner was a deserved fav. The bookies escaped a caning as he was not trained by a big stable eg Mullins, Elliot, Hendo or Pork Pie.
Report ronnie rails April 16, 2023 2:10 PM BST
Impossible as posted on another thread a dreadful result in the shop i was expecting the firms saying it was the worst result possible. it was in the dark and depressed Darlo.

Ronnie.
Report impossible123 April 16, 2023 2:24 PM BST
'ronnie rails', good to see you're posting. Dark and depressed Darlo? I was surprised too about the bookies' statement. I think the winner was a well-deserved one. It was an easy race to watch (at home) for backers. I ended up with just £2.75p on him (10/1) singly plus a few quid going on to Epsom after laying-off most at 4/1 in-running.
Report jimnast April 16, 2023 2:28 PM BST
Impossible dark and depressed darlo is the town of Darlington in the north east of England it’s where you would get of the train for catterick and sedgefield.

used to love a saturday with the wife in darlo, now its high st is one of the uk,s great ****s along with redcar,m,boro, stockton but local tory,s will have you believe weve never had it so good

Stockton i remember a night at the fiesta 40 years ago guys and dolls were on 4 coaches from Darlo it ended up making west ham v millwall look like a garden party it kicked off when the group started singing save all your kisses for me the police closed it down and put us all back on the busses back to Darlo.

Thanks for info 'jimnast'. I never knew Darlington was dark and depressed. I'd never been there probably driven past on the motorway.

My closest contact with aggravation was when I visited The Carnival at Notting Hill where a gang of black youths ran amok intimidating and snatching any form of valuables from Carnival goers. Never again!
Report jimnast April 16, 2023 4:18 PM BST
Never fancied the Notting Hill carnival I think I would prefer taking my chance in Somalia
Report sparrow April 16, 2023 5:00 PM BST
As a youngster I remember the Notting Hill race riots of the 1950s.  Scary stuff.
Report ItsMeSwaddle April 16, 2023 5:27 PM BST
The game is completely finnish.

People more interested in 8 leg accas, building stat football bets and taking 8 places with a 200 odd % overround not knowing how anything works.

Nout surprises me, remember they dont HAVE TO LAY A BEAN when the winner has been shortened up, just follow this place without laying, job done.
Report impossible123 April 16, 2023 7:29 PM BST
Build-your-odds is the horseracing's and football's equivalent of fobt, and only for the fantasists and odds-clueless. I think one would have a better chance of owning or being part of a syndicate of a good racehorse that pays its keep.

i went to a stag night at fiesta once which ended in a full on ruck between about a 100 blokes,

Absolutely agree with Rico and Ronnie, one of the worst results I can remember. I can't possibly see how they can say it was decent.
Took £11K and paid out £13K.

Good to see the punters getting a turn, however much they are getting screwed on %'s and place terms on the race,

ronniesounds like you stole my wardrobe
i remember/had 2 crombies  always preferred blue hankie to red
if you were well off you had a crombie where the buttons were hidden away whe fastened but if you wernt well of you had a snidey crombie from norman baums or somewhere where the buttons were on full view and everyone let you no Laugh,
also preferred a light blue stripe in my prince of wales suit/trousers rather than the red stripe
great days ronnie rail,s

Here's the real reason for their statement. New customers, who won on the Fav, may migrate to addictive casino/slot games with their winnings. WIN WIN WIN whatever the result.
Report sparrow April 17, 2023 9:41 AM BST
They probably arrived at their national bet via the slot games.

what about monkey boots ...........if you stepped in dogshyte that used to be abundant on the streets back in the day when no one bothered to clean up after their dog ya might as well throw the boots away as the soles had deep grooves on them
Report 1st time poster April 17, 2023 12:28 PM BST
the so called new harrington jackets are truly shocking market gear,an original beige harrington jacket will/would always be fashionable
i remember monkey boots most had yellow laces,i also remember what were basically a cheapo version of dr martin boots they were called MAJOR DOMO,S and although had lines on the sole had no air cushion sole and the leather instead of been soft was hard pimple leather and if you really couldnt afford a proper pair you got a hot spoon and melted the pimples of a pair of MAJOR DOMO,S  it was known as SPOONING Laugh
