Thought it would be 1/20, which turns out to the price to fall, get injured or something else in a grade 1 race. (well actually lesser)
Problem is their are outside forces that would do anything for money.

Pulled too hard Aintree is not his track Hard race at Cheltenham In Season Trip beat him Low Sun Pulled a shoe Sharjah is a good horse Pulled multiple shoes All systems go for the Guineas Neeekooo was never happy with him Istabraq got beat here so we’re in good company Tacky ground Bounce factor Would’ve preferred the ground a bit softer Muddling pace Maybe we should’ve done more at home since the Champion Wasn’t fair we had to make the running You could see he’s crying out for a fence now

trouble with it being fair to you is if it does fall you'll have "changed your mind" 2 minutes before the start cos you didn't like where piggin delicious had situated their hog roast van ...

as the odds suggest he will probably win easily but the odds are way too short for me ,the big hitters should collect but there are other avenues where a bit of value may be had at bigger prices .realistically ew is out the window as you will be playing for one place . the w/o fav market is more attractive to me. epatante was dissapointing in the mares and happy to oppose her , zanhiyar was ridden to pick up the pieces in the champion hurdle but this is a different test and he looks short enough . i like the chance of i like to move it who was behind zanhiyar in the champ hrdle but this trip and course could suit better and around 6/1 looks fair , will also have a few quid on the veteran sceau royal at 12s or better who should be ridden to get the trip has plenty of exp and missed chelt and should be fresher than most .

yes smirno and going by the betting any one of those 2 more likely to finish 2nd to conshill assuming he hacks up. but backing each way the 2 requires 4 bets and ya prob only chance of collecting on the place of one of them but each to there own ,all about opinions and i havent layed out too much on the 2 i fancy as there look to be better opportunitys in some of the bigger fields .good luck tommorow.

same here smirno , i like to take on shorties with bigger priced pokes but every so often i realise its pishing in the wind with class animals who are way above the rest but the average staking punter wont get rich backing 10s on shots so the other markets appeal more , and question marks around all 5 bar the fav one way or the other . i expect the fav to win easily then the places are up for grabs . although he has been over further in his point cons hill still has to prove he gets further than 2m i dont think the exta 4f will be a problem but its still an unknown .

Race a waste of time when it dipped below 8 runners , vast majority of punters on track would prefer it to be the last race on the card for an early getaway.

Sharjah I’ve played with out jolly 7/2 save on here later in case jolly went amiss Sharjah run well at Cheltenham thought at crunch time Got blocked in home straight at wrong time Extra 3f it appreciate

If you really believe that you must have an extremely low opinion of punters. Meaning you think they are compulsives and all they care about is gambling/money. But maybe you are right and the greatest hurdler of all time is just a number on the racecard to most there.

Last half dozen meetings i've attended Howard were exactly that , the bar was far more popular for the small field group races whereas the big field handicaps whatever the grade , everyone wanted to watch in the flesh.
The appearance of Chill wont make any difference to the Thursday crowd in my opinion despite what RUK and ITV will no doubt spout , it's Thursday at Aintree and crowd will be just as interested what others are wearing.
Totally different crowd these days compared to say the golden 70's and 80's.
Hope it scoots up obviously despite no wager , good luck today

For those backing him , it is the 'unknown factors' you are playing against.
My biggest ever single bet was on Sprinter Sacre at 1/4 when he won his first QM. Not a moments concern......however next time out he pulled up with the heart problem .....I have never risked as much in this manner since.....

i hope he wins well but the odds are far too short for me and most punters and anything can happen and does on the odd occasion" expect the unexpected " he should pish up but if the unexpected did happen there are big prices on the rest that would look huge if things didnt go to script and plenty me included would be saying fook why didnt i stick a few quid on a few of these in the win market .

Hayden , I'm sure you are pretty much correct as regards decades ago. However there did seem to be a larger and engaged crowd at Newcastle where he was long odds on and wasn't yet the champion hurdler. Group races is one thing but your Frankel Sea the Stars etc still a bit different.

rico i could take the 1/10 on cons hill but laying out big money to win peanuts does nothing for me! the buzz of backing a 20/1 winner and picking up a decent wedge is like a hit of crack cocaine 1

Having to lead may have made a difference but for me he was not finishing like he does over 2 miles. Still a dominant run but I would stay at 2 miles apart from this race next year.

I really thought Steve would have stuck a right few bob on. A machine (nap) Back it every time from now on....champion hurdles for starters and a few gold cups?

The very best chasers Arkle Burrough Hill Lad Kauto Star Denman were not tip top hurdlers or anything like. Even Dawn Run and Desert Orchid were nothing like as good as CH. I would keep him hurdling if he was mine.

For all the gusto from the owner I think we will see him back in the Champion Hurdle next year. What's the gain trying to go Arkle/Champion Chase? He got beat by a two miler in his only Point, and on today's evidence he is no superstar at the intermediate trip. He won by three lengths against second division opposition, and I doubt he could have found another length.

Anyone thought he was stopping? I'd like to see him run in 2m 4f+ over fences, If not a convincing winner revert back to hurdles just like Buveur D'Air immediately.

Hopefully he can because it’s going to boring watching him beat this lot up again next year.
Don’t really need to see him beating up marine national and Lossiemouth

Like many I would like to see him stick to the Champion Hurdle for another season. He is clearly a free running, fast horse and a fast jumper so doesn't convince me he certainly stays much further than today. I am not certain Nico was holding on to a lot. Stay hurdling for another season then go chasing.

Timeform gone with 161. (-14 on CH number). Seems a bit harsh. He's been pushed out to win but no more than that and there was never a moment of doubt.
