The Late Withdrwal under instruction from the BHA - and Trainer being asked for certain reasos before a race has happened before ... Most notably withan Irish Trainer - if memory serves me correctly. Two ways of looking at this ... 1. There is certainly nothing in Aces Full Form to suggest such a Gamble was about to happen 2. If the Horse has been instructed to be Withdrawn solely on the above basis - then, surely ... Every Sir Mark Prescott Handicap debut Horse - should be similarly ordered to be Withdrawn ... - along with - Tony Martin's - Charles Byrnes's - and Uncle Tom Cobley and All's Trainers - similar scenarios. Obviously that cannot simply be the case - otherwise - just WHERE will/would that all end? Maybe/probably the BHA are looking at the Ownership arrangement - although Trainer Sean Curran has (now) openly explained that. * Interestingly - or ironically - Sean Curran has a runner at Wolverhampton later called - Give A Little Back ... - Which is practically the Title of Barney Curley's Autobiography.  - although the horse was named by a previous owner - 2 years ago. |

Found one from 10 YEARS AGO .... But it was in Ireland
Will still try and find the English one(s), though Stewards put stop to gamble at Ballinrobe July 23 2013 CONTROVERSY reigned at Ballinrobe when one of the biggest gambles of the season was dramatically withdrawn by order of the stewards. Just minutes before the runners were to go to post in the fourth race, morning gamble Like A Diamond – backed from 50/1 into 4/1 – was dramatically ruled a non-runner. Mystery surrounds the background to this horse which had never run before and was down to be trained by Sharon Dunphy. Later, the stewards received a report from Turf Club senior security officer Chris Gordon in relation to the training of Like A Diamond. According to the official report issued by the stewards, Gordon reported that the horse was "not trained at the registered licensed premises of Ms Sharon Dunphy at Drish, Thurles, Co Tipperary but at another premises in the neighbourhood". Evidence was heard from Dunphy which included her acceptance of the report furnished by Gordon. Evidence was also heard from Fabian Burke, groom in charge, who had entered the yard on a temporary pass to work for Ms Dunphy at this meeting. Having considered the report and evidence and, in particular, the admission by Ms Dunphy that Like A Diamond was not trained from her licenced training establishment, as required by rule 147 (vi), the stewards ordered the horse's withdrawal and referred the matter to the Turf Club. |

apologies... or, more correctly - clarification (of posts by BOTH of us)You obviously interpreted my post as meaning - Withdrawn 'because of the betting angle' on the horse. I, conversely, interpreted your reply of ...'Can't recall anything like this happening before' .... - as meaning No horse had ever been prevented from running - for ANY reason at all.... - when you, apparently, meant - because of the betting pattern... as it (simply surface impression) can appear today - But I repeat from my post - I do NOT believe that Aces Full was prevented from running simply because of the betting ... As I posted ... 'Obviously that cannot simply be the case - otherwise - just WHERE will/would that all end? Maybe/probably the BHA are looking at the Ownership arrangement --------------- penzance has offered up a horse that was prevented from running at Wolverhampton - and I feel that there was another one - BUT ... Neither of them merely, or wholly - just because of a Gamble. The Betting/Gambles having drawn the BHA's attention to the horses ... when they THEN discovered Irregularities. |
