There should be a limit as to how many runners a Trainer can have in these big races i dont think its fair at all.

How do you tell an owner the horse you pay me a lot of money to train can’t run even though it’s qualified ?
|
|
By:
You can't. Owners pay for horses to race.
Not Elliott's fault he trains 'em. |

MJK
Did Dickinsons runners prevent others running? Did they fcuk!!!! |
|
By:
Correct penzance ,in this years bumper Mullins had 10 that’s fine by me if he thinks they are all good enough to run,
|

you limit the number of horses in training each trainer can have.... And then the owner can ask the question to the trainer "why is my horse in training with your 3rd assistant and i'm paying you full cost".
You then make the big races entry by qualification and bingo you have lots more racing with lots more trainers. I'd also go for limiting the runners a trainer can have into grades of licence and grades of track.... eg grade A trainer cannot have a runner at a grade c track. |
|
By:
Like i said put a limit on it...It would encourage owners to spread there horses around a bit more and keep the smaller Trainers in business no?
|
|
By:
How can you do that?
Costing trainers money in fees.Good trainers will always get more horses. |
|
By:
I think it would be a great idea and am convinced it is only a matter of time before it happens.

You pay £5K or £500K for a horse you want the trainer
of your choice to train it not someone elses. |

You pay £5K or £500K for a horse you want the trainer
of your choice to train it not someone elses...........Could not agree less the big battalions are getting bigger and smaller Trainers going bust in droves its a no brainer in my book. |
|
By:
So you buy a horse and put it with a trainer you don't want.
Great logic. |
|
By:
So you dont give a sh1te about the struggling Trainer then penzance?
|
|
By:
What's that got to do with it?
Fck all really.I'm not trying to dictate where a person has their horse trained. |

Elliott has 12 runners in Saturdays Grand National i dont think that is fair only my opinion.

The OP is complaining about Gordon NOT running them!

Even if you could come up with some kind of workable cap, no guarantee the beneficiary would be a 'small' trainer.

You can’t limit a trainer entering as many horses has he wants,as long has his owners are happy,it’s a free market.although you d hope the trainer might tell you,his first string is unbeatable so you’re only running for place money.
Maybe you could limit the same trainer and owner running say more than 2,in certain popular hcps.filling places or controlling the weights should be deterred. But imagine if 500 owners sent their horses to Mullins and every big race just became a Mullins race,so maybe a limit on entries or horses trained could be introduced,if Mullins has 500 queuing to be trained by him,he could just put his prices up to filter these out. To be fair to Elliott today, there was a lot of non runners and only 6 finnished,so it just happened that way,the reserves might of withdrew, Think this is a non issue. |
