Horse could barely get round the course in its previous six runs and we think there's nothing untoward then. I fail to see how the horse was even fit to run in those previous races.

Correct Rico but the point i've been clumsily trying to make on other threads is that punters shouldn't dismiss too easily , someone today correctly pointed out that a huge price winner was recently beaten 11 lengths by the fav , so easiest thing to do is put a line through the winner and easily dismiss and with respect some would class that as reading the form as they call it.

More lateral thinking required these days and many things should be looked at totally different to say the nineties ( when it wasn't as rosy as the nostalgia freaks claim either ) but is still a different game now with trust at an all time low.

My first reaction these days to that would be to turn the obvious on its head , so ask yourself the question why the winner took on the fav again despite being supposedly 11 lengths wrong ( could be several reasons ) , everything has a 2nd side to it and nothing in racing regarding decision making will ever be straightforward again.

As for the soccer examples they're not worth a comment , practically every punter in the country would love their soccer account to be zeroed as it's a mug betting sport that makes bookmakers cream themselves come the season and go into a state of depression when it finishes.

Poppydog tipped up Hidden Cargo on this forum so not everyone thought that it was a folorn hope in a rag of a race where 120 runs had produced just eight wins for the paticipants, the outsider of 5 wins a poor race on heavy going, hardly headline stuff especially in a race that it won last year, and getting up to two stone off his rivals too. Wish I'd of seen what Poppydog did, well done him.

Problem is Rico, low grade horses are not consistent. For a horse with track form, in hindsight, it was the likely winner.
