not long now till the 1st classics are upon us .......and as ever aob has plenty of likely candidates...........any early thoughts?

I would normally be looking for something at a price, but that Auguste Rodin looks the one in the 2000.
Not sure that Dewhurst was much good and loads of the others look like sprinters. Plus vibes. |

Not sure about Auguste Rodin over a mile if its on the quicker side of good. By Deep Impact out of Galileo mare Rhodedendron (who was tapped for toe in her Guineas by stablemate Winter) before running 2nd to the great Enable in the Oaks. Will surely be better over the longer trip. That said it didnt stop Saxon Warrior (Deep Impact/Galileo mare) winning his Guineas.
Little Big Bear might get the mile on quick ground. Neither seem as tho a mile is going to be their best trip going forward. |

As things stand the duo of AOB will be oddd-on to win the 1st Classic. I like Auguste Rodin for Epsom if he does not meet the same fate as Luxembourg eg rushed for 2000G - injured - then missed Epsom.
Saxon Warrior had a battalion (3) riding shotgun to assist akin to God paving the way for Moses to cross the sea. Also, I believe Saxon Warrior failed to stay 12f in a proper Gp1 race. The 2nd Classic looks a rematch between Tahiyra and Meditate. Unless the win of the former over the latter was a fluke 2-0 to the former is almost assured, all things being equal. |

moore said auguste is not short of speed ,myself i would rather have one one guaranteed to get the gns mile in auguste rodin than one who might get it in little big bear . of course something may improve out of the woodwork ,the dewhurst form might not be as strong although chaldean and nostrum need respecting .

I think LBB will easily get a mile and surely will win the guineas if he runs. He was the most outstanding looking 2yo and unless the Newmarket going turns soft he will be super tough to beat.

I'm fairly surprised Auguste Rodin is slightly preferred in the market than Little Big Bear. The latter was impressive in the Phoenix Stakes over 6f, and had won over 6.5f finishing well. I think Little Big Bear is improving with racing.
On the other hand Auguste Rodin won the Vertem over 1m on heavy going.He'll be suited when up-in-distance. I'm just a touch suspect about the form of the Vertem race. I think AOB will probably run two here. |
