Others may well disagree - However, I found both the below to be somewhat 'out of step' - to try and put it politely.

3:00 Carlisle

Fav - SAWPIT Sienna

Bred by the Owner -out of the Mare SAWPIT Supreme - who has also thrown - Sawpit Samantha

* SAWPIT - For a Racehorse ... Whatever 'floats your boat' ... But definitely not mine. Cry

So - some may say I am being a bit picky - But I feel that every horse deserves a decent name.
-----------

2nd fav - Esme Shelby

Owned by - RED RUM RACING 1  - wearing Identical COLOURS of RED RUM

Trained by Donald McCAIN

You would think that he of all people would maybe have some family reverence!

- of BOTH the Name RED RUM (Racing 1) Cry and the COLOURS
----------

Incidentally -
McCain Won the race with his other runner - Toughasoldboots -
Owned by - Donald McCain Racing Club - and ridden by his daughter Abbie

I think I heard them say on RUK that they were the second colours of Red Rum's owner.

second again.  That is true as the cap on Noel Le Mares first colours was maroon with yellow diamond. I believe Red Rum ran in the second colours in 1974 and understandably they kept them on for the 2nd and then 3rd National wins. It could be that Le Mare had another runner in the 74 national wearing the first colours.

Googling Sawpit does not help understand OP's objection to the name. Does it have some meaning other than where trees were turned into timber?

Glenkiln sported the first colours.

RED RUM's Grand National Winning Colours - on display in Liverpool museum, alongside Ginger McCain

-----------

Another set of - 'Red Rum's Winning Colours - offered for Auction, by Ginger McCain's wife Beryl - in 2006.

https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/14145/lot/348/
-----------

The colours are registered at Wetherbys in the name of Mrs Donald 'Ginger' McCain (the wife of Ginger McCain, trainer of Red Rum).

Footnotes
Noel Le Mare was the owner of Red Rum and raced these colours when Red Rum won the Grand National three times and was runner-up twice in a five year period.

Please note that these colours are being sold as a collector's item and are not available for registration at the BHB.

How many sets of these Colours are there?

The above - Mrs McCain's Auction Colours - would appear to be IDENTICAL to those carried by RED RUM RACING 1 Esme Shelby at Carlisle yesterday

Meanwhile - The Identical Colours appear on many Photos of Red Rum's NATIONAL WINS.
