Every horse has a ready made excuse with the ground today, but why drop the horse out so far? That's not how it has been ridden all season. Then up the straight couldn't understand the reluctance of the jock to use his stick in the left hand. It looked to me as if the horse wanted to go left and jock was continually checking any momentum it might have had by correcting it back onto the rails.

Should have read reluctance to use whip in right hand, not left.
I have backed this horse 3 times this year. Just simply wasnt good enough. I too was expecting it to lift off when they swung into the home straight but not its day. But before the race I was slightly concerned of its handicap mark against the southern horses plus I would prefer it back at 2miles only.
