only 30, no doubt his best win was Don Cossack in the Gold Cup.

Great talent when he burst on the scene. Unfortunately things went wrong thereafter.  Best of luck to him.

Is R.Lougran (spelling) still riding? He was the one who mistook the winning post in a big race in Ireland.

coops had some unlucky spells ....when watching irish racing my missus could hear it from another room . when one fell she always said " is that bryan cooper again " . he had loads of injuries but i think it was o'leary who said something along the lines of some young jockeys are  more concerned about how their hair looks than getting fit again.

Thought he was a very good jockey that got the breaks but more bad ones then good ones,I wonder is he going to take over from his dad.
Report Cider March 24, 2023 8:36 PM GMT
That leg break at Cheltenham was brutal. If I recall correctly the surgeon who completed the main op said it was worse than any break he had treated after a RTA.
Report pandora1963 March 24, 2023 9:21 PM GMT
he's been rubbish for the last 5 years
Report chavman March 24, 2023 9:56 PM GMT
wasnt it consensus that he lost his bottle after his first bad fall just after getting the gigginstown job
Report workrider March 25, 2023 9:29 AM GMT
One of the best jockeys I have ever seen presenting a horse at a fence in his prime ,and I have been racing over 50 years . Don Cossack and him were poetry in motion when on song and that was nearly every race. I wish the young man all the best in the future, he is right to leave the game if the love is no longer there...

Bryan told the opening show, going out to ride he was worried about getting injured.
clearly right to get out with those thoughts.Sad
Report impossible123 March 25, 2023 11:05 AM GMT
'workrider', Mr Cooper made an astute decision to retire. A very good jockey when he got the stint with Gigginstown at the outset; good ride on Don Cossack in winning the Gold Cup after a spill at Kempton; very possibly could have won the potato race on No more Heroes.

Just get another job ffs….why the fuss ?
Report formoftheace March 25, 2023 12:13 PM GMT
