I thought Nico put up a reasonable defence in that RTV interview just now there, saying the horse was back on its haunches at the start and he thought it was going to be a repeat of last year, but he got after him and he managed to get into a reasonable position.
He said that he had to switch inside because Davy Russell was trying to "push him out into the car park". Even without the mistake would he have beaten the winner who always just travelling the better? Probably not imo. £80K for second place, so well done Nico for your perseverance. |

Following the race, Nico de Boinville reported that SHISHKIN (IRE), placed second, made a bad mistake at the third last fence and hung left-handed throughout.
