  I pointed out as a Cobden thread approx 3-4 weeks ago that he had a horse in every race at a meeting. Didn't put one up as a selection but got pelters from the usual suspects. As it happened he was zero from seven. The forum should have been more grateful. That said, surprised it went out like a light there.

stewarty , aftertime I know but just had a look at the Challow form. 2nd (16/1 ) had won it's last race at 2/7 at Hexham and was rated just 125 at the time. Not a good race ?

Nicholls now saying he needs further, and he will go up in trip at Aintree. Brilliant deduction, shame he needed to rack up another Ballymore loser to realise his mistake.

Nicholls doesn't care about novice hurdles. He's always thinking about what will be best for the horse's career as a chaser. And, frankly, Stage Star and Bravemansgame have vindicated that approach this season.

First and foremost Nicholls likes to prove people wrong. It would likely have done Hermes Allen's future prospects no harm to have run in the Albert Bartlett. That's much more of a stepping stone for a potential Gold Cup horse than the Ballymore which historically has been a Champion Hurdle trial.

Nothing stopping him trying to turn it into a stamina test though and sending him to the front, he just sat there behind a horse that was hanging and not taking him anywhere and waiting to get outpaced.
