my reasoning for the 10 lengths or more is they might want to really push him out and make a  spectacular show of it if he really is the real deal .
Report Rico-Dangleflaps February 26, 2023 4:48 PM GMT
like last yr..the faster they go the better he is

imo
Report FOYLESWAR February 26, 2023 4:56 PM GMT
yes all the talk is of how he could be the best ever an all that , im thinking of a scenario state man goes off in front hard  hoping to burn him off, cons hill tracking him in 2nd or 3rd and like in the supreme last year nico is running all over them at the turn and goes into turbo mode and pulls right away .
Report Rico-Dangleflaps February 26, 2023 4:59 PM GMT
no chance of burning him off..turn it into a sprint and more vulnerable.
Report FOYLESWAR February 26, 2023 5:05 PM GMT
could be rico we will see the mullins camp will have a plan, but if c hill is as good as they are all saying may not matter how they run the race !  just the 7/2 10l appealed to me.
Report UnluckyForSome February 26, 2023 5:23 PM GMT

never got the gist of betting on distances, absolute mug bet unless you know the jockey.
Report FOYLESWAR February 27, 2023 8:08 AM GMT
in normal circs yes betting on distances is a muggy bet but i just think with all the hype and expectation around the horse they may well want to put up a show and see how good he really is .all about opinions tho and one mans poisen and all that ! saying that my pocket would be far more happy if one of the mullins 2 wins .
Report acey deucy February 27, 2023 8:46 AM GMT
I must admit it is the only Race i am really excited about and anybody that thinks C.H only has to canter around (everybody bar me)is in for a shock.Cool
Report FOYLESWAR February 27, 2023 8:58 AM GMT
as said acey i have backed state man at 13ave  and vauban around 20s on here  ante post months ago but the fav" could" be in  a different league and if he is then i still have a chance of a pick up.

Constitution Hill wins by 9L or less, all bets down ?
Report FOYLESWAR February 27, 2023 11:31 AM GMT
some angles covered ! then of course a complete boilover could happen  and plenny get burned ,but its gambling and horseracing and anything can happen ,nothing is certain but the uncertainty is one of the reasons why we play.
Report Andrew.in.Sweden February 27, 2023 11:54 AM GMT
Good luck Foyles, personally i think the fav wins relatively easily, but it's all about opinions

Rico "never got the gist of betting on distances, absolute mug bet unless you know the jockey."   Yeah remember a case from Catterick in the 80's.  Long odd-on shot won a neck with jock holding on to it all last furlong. Trainers dad will have been selling distance cos it was more than a fool the h'capper job.

And yes the likely plan is State Man trying to drop anchor in front and get first run in a speed test.  Don't think Nico will allow that if the pace is too slow he will take up the running himself.
Report howard February 27, 2023 12:35 PM GMT
So over 10 lengths unlikely imo just due to the nature of the race.
Report geoff m February 28, 2023 5:59 AM GMT
If they are thinking of going to AIntree & Punchestown would doubt they will want to see how far it can win by.
Once hes gone 10 clear up the run in would be nothing more frustrating to see Nico drop anchor and start waving to the crowd.
Dont think the race is going to be ideally set up for Constitution to show his true greatness.

Do i think Constitution is a 10 lengths plus superior horse . Most definetly!!

Acey

Of course there is a risk many CH backers (me included) will be deemed mugs by your goodself if he gets beaten, but you have to realise it works both ways Wink
Report acey deucy February 28, 2023 1:12 PM GMT
Of course Andrew.Wink
Report brigust1 February 28, 2023 2:59 PM GMT
Hi Andrew. I don't think anyone opposing short price horses are mugs. But I do see Acey's point. The risks are low and the rewards high. If he is successful he will dine out on it for a very long time.

However I cannot see CH beaten at all, not because of his record but because of the opposition. I backed CH on 26th November, Fighting Fifth Day, for the CH and I can't even remember seeing State Man as a danger then. That is how poor the division is. CH has beaten stable companions on his last three starts, Might I, a maiden winner and Jetoile, a maiden winner on his other two.

I love watching and backing top class horses its just the hype is sometimes overwhelming. It was good to see on the Racing Post website 'Don't get ahead of yourself - Constitution Hill has a long way to go to join Champion Hurdle greats'.
Report howard February 28, 2023 3:59 PM GMT
Written by an Irishman by any chance ? If you just want to look back and have an opinion which horses were the best fine but that approach doesn't do you any good as a backer. They knew CH was something special when they pressed the button at home. Didn't need a racecourse.
Report brigust1 February 28, 2023 4:16 PM GMT
Have you ever worked in stables Howard? Have you ever heard of morning glories? Possibly not?

I am not Irish, if you are talking to me? Whatever that means. CH is clearly the best around at the moment but the best against what? I would like to see him race against something decent before I crown him anything more than the best around at the moment.
Report brigust1 February 28, 2023 4:25 PM GMT
Sea Pigeon won the Ebor carrying 10st, the Chester Cup twice, Champion Hurdle twice, Scottish Champion Hurdle twice, Fighting Fifth twice, Welsh Champion Hurdle among other races. He beat some truly great hurdlers in his time and goodness only knows how good he would have been if he was given the racing schedule Constitution Hill will have. I am prepared to give him time to earn his spurs but he still has a long way to go.

At least he has got us all talking brig, two Weeks Today it cant come soon enough....Super excited.ExcitedExcited
Report howard February 28, 2023 4:32 PM GMT
Sweetman I'm talking about. Well he's done plenty on course so we know HE is not a morning glory. But again it's two different things. Historian or punter. Fine if anyone wants to be the former. Most of these really good horses show it nearly straight away. Quite a few were on STS for the guineas. Also Nashwan. They took a view very early with class horses that were better over further.

Talking about unbeaten horses....

Does anyone reckon someone out there had a lifetime acca on Frankel ?

Paid slightly under 70/1.
Report smirnoff2therescue February 28, 2023 5:56 PM GMT
best value bet i ever had Kev was on Frankel @12/1 to remain unbeaten as a 3yr old wiv Corals - limited to £50 max stake and had to run at least 3 times for bet to stand - as we knew from that old site a few seemed to know he was a bit special even as a  2yr old GrinGrinGrin

Report LoyalHoncho March 2, 2023 9:38 PM GMT
As for the "Hill" if he does manage to fulfil all his promise and win the Champion Hurdle, in doing so he may well beat three Champion Hurdlers and three Champion Hurdle placers, as well as a Triumph Hurdle winner - that;s assuming that the horses concerned all stand their ground and run.
That would be some haul which may never have been achieved before.
I hope he does because we need a superstar to take the headlines away from less positive stuff going on at present.
Report geoff m March 2, 2023 11:07 PM GMT
Not taking anything away from the Hill but he will have to go some to beat the great Night Nurse who i think from memory he beat the winners of 7 Champion Hurdles.Plus a few placed @ least
Report LoyalHoncho March 3, 2023 3:25 AM GMT
Of course Night Nurse was special, and he raced in an era full of red hot competition when there were several very gifted hurdlers to beat.  Then only Little Owl stopped him winning a Gold Cup too.
What a horse.
