Seemed by far the best Horse in the race, punted accordingly to be ridden like that, left his run miles too late imo of course.

"Connor Beasley, the rider of BURNING THE BAILS, which finished third, beaten 1 ¾ lengths, was asked to explain his riding throughout the race. The Stewards interviewed Beasley and viewed recordings of the race. Beasley explained his instructions were to drop the gelding in and get settled into a rhythm. He further added he didn’t want BURNING THE BAILS too keen from a low draw and a slowly run race. Beasley then explained that the gelding was caught flat footed from 2 furlongs out as the pace quickened, to then stay on strongly to the line passing tiering horses. His explanation was noted."

The key point is just over 2f out when he has every opportunity to challenge down the centre, but instead opted to go towards the rail and in behind horses.

Tbh maybe I am being naive but I was happy to write this one off as incompetence.
Its mega keen to start ( you know how its gunna be ridden if you punt) Not being sure how much its got left he has just sat and waited...and did try to shake it up but with no immeadiate reaction he was screwed. |

No pace on and 6.54 secs outside standard. "tiering" from having done what, exactly, crawled along for 6f? This would have been my first question: Mr Beasley, why did you hand your main market rival a several length advantage in a slowly-run race? |
