Promotion was Place a bet up to the value of £10 on the Exchange on "Over 2.5 Goals" selection - Man Utd v Leicester. If your selection does not win then we will refund losing bets up to £10 as a free bet.
So the market is Over/Under 2.5 Goals and I chose to bet £10 on under 2.5 goals and the bet lost. No free bet was credited, so queried with Customer Service who advised:
"I double checked this for you and it seems that this was placed on Under 2.5 Goals. In the T&C this is to be placed "over 2.5 Goals".
So the market is Over/Under 2.5 Goals and Betfair are denying the free bet credit, stating that in order to qualify I should have laid over 2.5 goals rather than betting under 2.5 goals in that market. Have customer service got this right? Is this an open and transparent promotion with those T&C's?

Sounds like you have been robbed - but technically if they are pedants (which they are), they have a case.
Tell them that you think you were matched by the cross-matcher and therefore your bet qualifies!   |

Not the first time this bet has been offered, and despite the rule not being too clear it actually is only for over 2.5.

Which is why the overs price is a little stingy (was 1.66 when I looked) and the unders seem generous.

And I think you were misinformed when told you should've Laid overs, The bet is only to Back overs.

If they'd asked you to back Under 0.5 and you'd decided to back 0-0 in Correct Score as it was the same thing I don't think you'd get anywhere? @REDROB "The bet is only to Back overs" - is that in the full T&Cs? |

But it's confusing because when you click on the "bet here" in the promotion it takes you to the usual overs/unders 2.5 market. And nowhere on there does it mention the offer.

So you back overs and if it loses you get a tenner free bet.

Yes of course should have posted in football forum. Thanks for input though. After opting in, the link was to the Over/Under 2.5 Goal market and it didn't occur to me I can only choose to back over 2.5 goals. Price was about 1.66 which is not a price I would bother with tbh, albeit it was a winning bet.
Still I have learnt to read the T&C's and won't be making that mistake again. Always good when a promotion, presumably to encourage customers to bet on a given market, pisses them off. |
