The farce is running 0-55 handicaps for 3yo only - the winner is bound to have useless previous form, otherwise it wouldn't get into a 0-55.

thank you for reminding me why i never , ever ,  bet on a.w. racing ....yes , i know it can happen on turf but there is no point in looking for trouble !

I've seen trainers get 12 year bans for less.

I know you are joking but this is miles away from that,

it had 3 runs at 7f and today's race was 7f

it had an 80 day rest and horses can improve and your guide to that is the market,

if you want to ignore that, it's up to you !

One of the first things my father taught me about Racing was never to bet in 3yo handicaps and there was no AW racing then.

The establishment know exactly what goes on in both codes…difficult to point a finger unless certain betting companies bring it to attention…..the hands are tied ….but they know the score….

I doubt they frown at every complaint from the punter….they will agree with a few imv but what can they do..

I think they will be watching Newcastle with interest since the bad publicity in recent weeks…

even worse is the 2yo nurseries, punters don''t realise how much young horses improve week to week and just file it under skulduggery

The only way the stewards can be involved is if they can show that the horse was deliberately stopped in its earlier runs and that is difficult with inexperienced horses.

back in my school days i was a very average runner and used to finish middle to back of the year group. It was only when it was announced the top 30 would make the rugby squad that I suddenly found my running legs and showed dramatic improvement.

We all remember Stoute and Cecil getting the likes of Carson in the big handicaps

ace, I was told from a young age 'Cecil in a handicap', I've no idea if it was profitable but he didn't have a lot of runners in them.

Suprirsed at the 10 previous replies, if you think the market is formed via people watching BLV traditional camera you are sadly mistaken, infact it could be a blank black box all day and the market would be exactly the same! HTH!!!

Gelding them early seems to bring on a fair bit of improvement as well.

I can think of a few posters on here that might have benefited from that operation.

The application of money helps in a lot of these plans...

Why shouldnt it be? They've spent money buying the horse and paying the training fees, they are under no obligation to tell any tom, dick or harry what their plans are. The markets are there to follow for all of us, and as we all know, it doesnt always work!! Otherwise we'd all be millionaires and there would be no bookies left etc etc

Exactly this. Can you really begrudge owners (especially), stable staff etc the odd touch?

Bookies turn over on horse racing (as punters have less faith) down - levy down - prize money down - moaning about low prize money by connections UP

It's not just connections that can benefit in fairness , punters can benefit if they can steer away one dimensional gambling and look to take more opportunities albeit outside their lifetime gambling comfort zone.

If you can't beat them join them and before someone says what about the good of the sport , do me a favour that ship has well sailed and looking after No1 is the only thing we should be concerned about.

White Rhino was a prime example last week , 3 poor runs at big prices then a handicap debut , up in trip , bottom weight and odds of 75.0 before hacking up by 6 lengths , despite knowing the basics of fearing horses first , second or sometimes third run off a handicap mark how many punters give a 75.0 shot a second or even first glance , these things are not always gambles and SP knock outs still happen.

Some will say backing 75 shots is guessing , so is backing a fav against a handicap debutant with hidden talents.

The moaners have 3 options here;

Avoid betting in nurseries and 3yo hcps where these unexposed types lie.
Or, if you think it could be profitable, highlight the possible suspects, do your homework on who the shrewder stables are, wait for the money and follow them in.
Or, you could keep doing your money backing obvious favs, and carry on shouting 'fix' whenever a 'surprise' winner pops in.

Anyone surprised by, fed up with, shocked by or angry about -0001 form figures (4/1 from 12/1) should try tiddlywinks. I have been told that this game is fairly straight.

The reality is after the bets have come in 4/1 represents the fair price for the horse. If we did a 10 year P&L it would probably show that. There are many similar coups which fail every day and are never heard of. Used to hear big mac screaming 'THEY KNEW'

BTW if your only way of betting is to chase market steamers then you should give up the game. The price you get will always represent undervalue.

The prize money is derisory at this level,other ways of making the game pay have to be found.

Was amusing on Hughes effort on Creative Control and Since Day One,both short priced in two horse races this last week,he seemed to take the creative control a bit too seriously.

Beaten 48 lengths last time out, Copshill Lad attracting good money on handicap debut in the 5.20, what are we to make of it? Won a bumper so probably a capable type?
