They will not show things from the 60s and 70s these days yet swear words which would not have been allowed back then are quite acceptable now. Talk about hypocrisy!

It was a live interview I should think it caught everyone by surprise anyway as I’ve already said the question got the answer it deserved no country in the world gives help to others like we do in all sorts of ways ,it time the ungrateful arsholes around the world started to appreciate us more.

While the defence secretary denies reports he is considering resigning if he doesn't get more funding at the Budget next month, Ben Wallace warns of a "growing threat" to the UK and says his department needs more cash to continue modernising the British Armed Forces.

Sparrow I often read your posts re our beloved WHU and I respect everyone's right to an opinion of course, BUT, surely your bias against the Tories cannot override a British MP talking straight and defending our country? A breath of fresh air I say in this world where everyone is afraid of upsetting anyone.

My first post was in response to his use of language which prompted this thread. Neither the OP or myself mentioned anything else to begin with. As for defending our country I would expect all of us to support that objective.

Chaz, I did make the point of the use of bad language in public nowadays compared with the 60s and 70s and yet we are no longer allowed to see the programmes from that era. But I admit I do not care for Tories and probably never will so blame it on my East End background and we can both agree on "Come on you Irons"

Conservative governments pose as strong on defence but in reality they've carved our armed forces to ribbons. The army is the smallest it has been for four centuries, and the navy less than half the size it was at the time of the Falklands War. One of our shiny new aircraft carriers has been stuck in dock for repairs since it was launched, which might be a blessing in disguise as we do not have enough planes for more than one carrier, if that.
