disappointed....been going there for 40+ years, including memorably for a meeting on the day of Live Aid in 85, got into pub just before Freddie took us all on 20 minutes of pure adrenaline...and with each passing year the town and the racecourse have deteriorated in one way or the other. Was there yesterday and downstairs was completely closed (assume to save money on utilities and staff) thereby pushing everyone to the mezzanine level where there were 2 bookies and the betting shop/tote and one very small bar area with no more than 4 servers and one food outlet squeezed into the corner, truly shocking for what after all is a Grade 1 track.  There were only 4 books by the parade ring too, far removed from the (at least) 2 rows of 10-12 books that were in front of the grandstand for even midweek meetings in the pre-exchange days.

The standard of racing yesterday wasn't great but the course itself remains a treasure (hopefully no more irrigation problems) and great viewing from the rooftop stand.
