At some point, American Mike needs actually to win a race in order to justify his sky-high reputation.

American Mike a lay, stable not in top form,most probably Inothewayurthinkin to win,with Mullins Hunters Yarn another that’s lurking

He was talked up last season, and to be fair he did finish second in the Festival Bumper, albeit with a better passage than the winner. After what's happened this season that reputation is no longer there (see Cheltenham markets), and today is about getting him back on the rails over a shorter trip than ideal. I just think they will just want to see him finish his race off before considering a tilt at the Ballymore.

Yeah ..backed off the boards here ... Gordon needs to train it to jump better... agree with all on the thread about him..
Thought and still think has a big engine but backed him quite heavily as heard and they thought schooled better but obviously a hurdle is a problem for him ..
Wont back him again as burnt us today althou not a terrible run but Mullins won improved as ya d imagine would do but more than i reckoned..
Hands up got it wrong and lost a pile after backing large Mullins in the 1st so poor day in Navan here today...

Why on earth would he want three miles? He didn't finish his race off last time and he didn't finish off again today. He just weakened away tamely never looking like he would pick up. There was no freshness that Gordon suggested, he just looked very laboured.

Try him over fences or a change of scenery.

I's just looking more and more like the superstar bumper Irish horses of which American Mike was the first on the scene followed by Facile Vega are just not as good as they were cracked up to be, the fact that these ideas are so entrenched into our minds means it takes longer to relinquish those thoughts about them, we, as Elliott is doing would rather switch around trips and what have you searching for the answer, it'll be headgear at some point.

I don't think you can compare Facile Vega with this horse. Facile Vega was in a different league to him in the Festival Bumper. He has disappointed once over hurdles, having previously won at top level. That poor run might turn out too bad too be true. In comparison American Mike has shown nothing over hurdles.

I did being kind to the horse but that looks of the menu so maybe he will be on it.

if the horse doesn't like jumping, maybe they should try a flat campaign !
