Ladyboy - agreed mate...that's always had me scratching my head too though
maybe the fur's getting in the way for the scratching to make an impact  What are the most notable examples of big race winners? The main one that springs to mind is Exotic Dancer though I can't think of any more right now but I'd agree there's definitely something to it. |

Got me thinking that Barstool.....I put my hands up to the side of my face, with fingers blocking my peripheral vision and imagined I was an aggressive/competitive greyhound and then reflected on the amount of races I had lost in my career by turning on the greyhound trying to pass me on the run in/close to the line.......if only I'd had a pair of blinkers or cheekpieces......I could have won so many more races!!
......similarly when I was a horse,being the worrying sort, if only I had been able to concentrate more on what was in front of me and not worry what was going on around and behind me so much .....I could have done so much better! I'm going for a lie down now.....  |

Horses are herd animals but more importantly they are prey animals. Not being able to see behind makes a horse more prone to imagine it is being chased by lions, and less likely to see the safety of the herd.

Gibberish -- possibly because Aidan O'Brien went haring up the track to remove the cheekpieces before RotW (or was that another horse?) for the same reason Coolmore favours brown rather than white: headgear doesn't look good in the stallion adverts.

That's a good point about the stallion propaganda...though the cynic in
me figured he could've saved himself a sprint with a simple airbrushing. It's so ubiquitous nowadays in this fake world...it's like The Matrix!  |
