He has probably done no more than beat nothing very easily.

I think it's that price due to the fact there's no outstanding candidates so far this season rather than what it did today.

He's that price because he is trained by the bloke who farms the Cheltenham bumper, including the last three winners. Mullins also trains Chapeau de Soleil, who is second in the antepost lists despite having been beaten by Gordon's hoss Better Days Ahead. Westport Cove makes it three of the first half-dozen in the betting.

Surely Joseph's got something with a chance

Can't see why Joseph would have a bumper horse; more likely a well-bred novice hurdler who never quite made it to the top on the Flat and who won't win at Cheltenham either because they've over-watered but if it's owned by JP it will open plenty short enough.
