Three firms are offering four places in the (hopefully) lucky last at Wolverhampton, and I'm going to take a couple against the field.
Athmad, 1pt EW @ 11-1, 8.30 Wolverhampton (4 PLACES) Further Measure, 1pt EW @ 9-1, 8.30 Wolverhampton (4 PLACES) Athmad is 4lb below his last winning mark and should be approaching peak fitness on this third run back following a break. There were signs last time out when behind a couple of these over C/D that he might be finding some form, particularly as he wasn't helped by meeting with trouble inside the final furlong. Further Measure's trainer has gone a while without a winner and is near the top of today's RP cold list, but this fella is still of a little interest returned to this track based on a good effort over C/D last winter off a 7lb higher mark. He has had a few chances since at other tracks and run ok on occasions without managing to win, but interesting to see how he goes back here, with Billy Loughnane taking off a handy 7lb. |

Thanks for the good luck messages.
sixtwosix, yes, and will probably need the breaks on this one too if held up as usual, so he could probably do with a decent pace to come off. |

mitolo, leave politics aside GeorgeB is fine and does exceedingly well with his threads on horse racing, all up front and all selections in advance of racing, whats not to like? I for one would not like to be laying his selections long term, one way the to the poor house in my opinion. Good luck with this venture GeorgeB.

By:
Ah, but, Tiger Tiger, successful threads during the summer Flat, and we saw what happened on last year's thread once we got into autumn.
So I think mitolo could make himself a few quid laying these, I certainly wouldn't put him off. |

Not brain surgery
One of top weights in a handicap PM prefers to win with the longer shots Has won with PM at course with a higher OR I like Gorak that man Probert, but I’ll except PM beaten that one, |

i hope he knows as much about racing as he does about geo-politics.
fwiw-nothing-im backing the walford thing in that race. |

Good Luck George .....

Very best of luck George,if anyone can succeed my money would be on you.Regarding the early prices and bog I think that will make a big difference at level stakes e.g did the same naps in my compy's last month, one with bog ep and one SP,bog one + £17 odds, the SP +£12 odds,a fair difference.
|
By:
Good luck I will be following!
Nice that the thread has a target and staking boundaries. |
By:
Thanks for the comments.
A quiet start. Athmad, who was sent off at 33s on here, couldn't land a blow. Further Measure took a grip racing in the two-path alongside the surprise winner on the front-end, and was readily outpaced when things got serious, though did keep on to finish 4th. Running P/L: -1.2 |
By:
IMO 100pts profit is nearly impossible but good luck all the same.
|

Good luck George, reminds me of a song.........
The long and winding road |

JML, it took me 86 days on last year's thread, but here's the big difference, that was done during the busy summer Flat racing period, whereas at this time of year there are going to be a plenty of quiet days like today where I don't have any selections. So I think you're right, due to the time of year that I'm attempting this.
Shane, as I'm faced with trying to win 101.2 pts from somewhere to 1pt EW stakes, there can be only one song to sum the situation up... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxNlpZxVR7E |

I`ve every confidence in you George.

GEORGE, it's a man-made mountain , good luck!

Best of luck George.

For a bit of fun, I'll start a similar thread with the same rules but with a maximum stake of 2 points per race. I'd price GB up at long odds on in this match race. I'm about 30lbs below in the ratings and I'm just looking to potter around and pick up that tidy 2nd place prize money!
|
By:
Cheers chaps.
Good luck, WP. Surely though, you should be making yourself favourite as presumably you're a follower of the jumps, whereas I'm largely confined to what slim pickings there are on the Flat at this time of year? |

100pts profit only using 1pt E/W is very impressive at any time especially if you're using bookie prices. |
By:
Do you use BOG even when not offered by the bookie offering the quoted price and 4 place concession?
|
By:
No JML, and only quote the four places when offered by at least two of the main bookies.
Of the three that were offering the 4 places last night, at least one of them were BOG on the race. |
By:
GB, I do follow the jumps but the majority of my selections will be on the AW/Meydan. I'll also throw in a few speculative bets from time to time (Doubles) Of course like yourself, I'll give my reasoning behind each selection.
I'd install you as a long odds on fav seeing as you have rock solid form over a number of seasons in doing these Betting Challenge threads. |

Good luck, WP

Oman, 1pt EW @ 16-1, 2.15 Lingfield
Oman started his 2022 campaign off with an odds-on, neck defeat in a four-runner affair at Salisbury, but he was attempting to give 16lb to Spirit Mixer, who was completing the first leg of a hat-trick and who would go on to finish second in the Northumberland Plate. Oman was disappointing in two further starts in class 2 handicaps for Ralph Beckett, and he now returns to the Flat after offering little in two starts over hurdles for Alan King. He clearly has a bit to prove now and 12f round Lingfield may not be a sufficient test for him on this his AW debut, but this is a drop in grade and he's racing off a pound lower mark than for that Salisbury second, and it will be interesting to see what Alan King can do with him on the level. Obtain, 1pt EW @ 20-1, 7.30 Kempton Obtain might have been helped by first-time blinkers when running out an authoritative winner of a 5f handicap at Wolverhampton in September, from one who has won twice since. She wasn't in the same form over the same C/D on her only subsequent start when returning from a near-two month break, and has since been sold for 21,000 gns. Obtain has a bit to prove now having left a stable very much on the up and returning from another break, with a headgear switch to cheekpieces, but she looks worth chancing at the prices on her first start for Amy Murphy, with Adam Farragher taking off 3lb and having drawn the inside stall. |

Good luck GEORGE. Down 1.2 points is hardly a disaster after two bets. Once the winners start stotting in you will have many more admirers.

Blimey, stewy, you make it sound like a dating site! I don't want any 'admirers' stewy, I hope the selections all get stuffed and they start posting abuse. |
By:
so do i. even if they win i will give it.
|
By:
mitolo sounds very angry.

By:
Plenty on here would like admirers GEORGE. I was going to say myself included but I'm full up and overflowing. Anymore spare and I'll gladly loan them to you.

not at all. disparaging you causes not a flicker.
