Wonder if we'll see the real deal today, surely McNally won't  be sending it out for a stroll with Colin Keane booked?

Not sure if it would have won had it got out earlier but was a tad unlucky

Dreal Deal has a half-brother - Favour And Fortune - who Won a Bumper on it's debut last week for Alan Kng.

They paid 58,000 for it - 8 months after Dreal Deal Won it's 3 well-gambled on Flat races - followed by the 3 Hurdle Wins  ... hence the 58,000 Sales price

Ronan McNally obviously did not wish to spend 58,000 of his gambling Winnings on Favour And Fortune (unless he was a beaten-off underbidder) -

Had he done so - Favour And Fortune would have probably had 3 years 'in the shadows' - rather than Winning on it's DEBUT. Happy

Just had a look back at it and the race became an 'equine bingo' scenario. They hadn't gone very quick and the entire field were virtually in a line across the track at the furlong pole. Ridic!

So unfortunately for the DD backers it turned into a sprint.

So according to Onlooker's observation with no proof I might add, when he say's it wouldn't have won on debut if McNally trained it what else have we learned from the great one.Well he thinks EVERY trainer should buy the off spring of EVERY winner they have trained in the past from their gambling winning Laugh. You must hand it to him , it would mean that 99% of horses would be owned by the same people forever and a day..Guy is amazing Cool

The committee was satisfied that McNally had "used the racecourse as a training ground and schooled in public with the objective of acquiring a lenient official handicap rating for his horses"

Has there ever been a trainer who hasn't done this?

It's how far you push it,when the handbrake came off Dreal Deal it had over 50 lbs in hand,20's into 6/4.Plenty take the p1ss but he arguably took it to the extreme.

You are right George.B has this ever happened before?
Depends who you are.

Fred Winter had schooling in public off to a fine art and that was 50yrs ago.

Exactly lads...its never happened before. Like when a certain horse gets pulled up at Market Rasen and then a couple of weeks later bolts up on the flat (Catterick) after being backed off the boards. Whoops
Report Whippin Piccadilly December 6, 2022 4:05 PM GMT
There was actually some promise in Dreal Deal run on the level before he switched back to the jumps. A keeping on over a completely inadequate trip beaten around 7L. That was the first bit of form the horse had shown since his ptp runs. Now he's basically just a 70-75 rated flat handicapper and he's far too high in the weights for the jumps. The guy has been very harshly treated IMO
Report swiftynifty December 6, 2022 4:34 PM GMT
WP, harshly treated compared to others maybe, but harshly treated in terms of breaking the rules of racing on a consistent basis for years, I think not.
Report Whippin Piccadilly December 6, 2022 5:26 PM GMT
The guy is guilty of getting his modest horses well handicapped and landing a couple of gambles...can you even land a worthwhile gamble with bookies these days before they cut the price and reduce your stakes to nothing?

He won weak Summer/Autumn jumps races with both horses (before both won races even connections probably didn't think they'd win) The Jam Man had even shown a liking for Southwell with a win there on a previous visit. Any punter with a modicum of punting sense wouldn't have ruled it out of the race that day. (Form figs for the next 4 runs for the 2nd Atomic Rumble UP6P) Also when he did get these horses back into form, they would run up winning sequences at short prices. Surely, short priced, favourite backers were happy about this? Wait, you're telling me these same punters fancied DD at 200/1 in a 7F flat race? lol
Report stewarts rise December 12, 2022 11:41 AM GMT
Dreal Deal goes in the last looks to have every chance today, didn't get much of a clear run in a slowly ran race over C/D lto, winner won again since, will he go for the bookies money or the betfair backers money?
Report punchestown December 16, 2022 5:36 PM GMT
No messing about tonight,no getting stuck in behind horses...Grin
Report Whippin Piccadilly December 16, 2022 7:52 PM GMT
Handicapped to win tonight and he simply delivered on the previous promising runs at the Curragh and Dundalk. Will go up 5lbs and he can go in again in a similar race IMO
