he didnt fancy it today. hes had 4 previous runs on good to soft and won them all. so its not the ground. he had every chance to run past the first 3 today but decided not to. hes a horse. he doenst know hes unbeaten and that theres a whole bunch of media people talking about him all week.
its been a pretty timid campaign. 5 runs in one whole year. he could have run in the irish champion stakes, breeders cup mile or even hong kong, but its a big no.
hes nothing compared to sea the stars who ran from 1 mile to 1m 4f in all the best races and dont even go there regarding frankel who beat multiple champions time and time again by many lengths.............Baeed beat palace pier by a neck and mishriff who gets beaten all the time by a few lengths..........big deal.

brain dead & SontaranStratagen, Blimey two sensible posts – that’s a first. I was there in person, with Andrew and some Betfair boys off the forum, and lumped on him (but not big time). Lesson learnt (again  ) not to get carried away by the hype, they're not machines.Won a tenner back in the car park and ten more at 6:00pm when I got home. the ground on champions day was the same as last year when he won - I think he was "over the top" for the season. expensive loss yesterday - will have knocked millions off his value.

inspiral ..solid 120 horse runs yesterday to around 100
baaeed solid 130+ horse runs yesterday to around 115 its horse racing..seen it all before..imo ground beat baaeed..its best performances were on quicker ground. |

wqas beating the same horses over a mile and beat mishriff who doesnt seem to be the same horse as last season when stepped up in trip ,then thehype machine took over ,yesterday he was facing some unexposed improving horses and a derby / king george winner.

The team wasn't good enough on the day , what element of the team cost defeat will always be subjective but i suspect the horse was the primary reason.

It is a sad state off affairs that Baaeed would be worth more in stud value if he'd stayed at home yesterday.
Better off not running. A racehorse. Not telling you anything you all don't know it's just a shame that's how it works. With really top horses I mean. |

Horses just go off. Baaeed had a rash on his neck at York and ran a stormer. Arguably his best yet. Good going flat track aswell obv. No rash yesterday, maybe something will show in his bloods. Totally clutching at straws |

I thought Authorized was unbeatable in the arc, and he got lapped. The old cliche can be trotted out, they aren't machines. I don't happen to think he was miles off his best yesterday, and might still have had a tough race or been beat if he was in that trip, course and going. BB completely unexposed for a master trainer, and Adayar has shown flashes of brilliance himself. The pounds and pence people might point to My Prospero dragging the form down but he is pretty unexposed too.

bugged quote system, I said he got lucky because odds-on favs are just as profitable at heavy going as on any other going.

Trainer ran fav in biggest race of day a few Saturday s ago.
5 minutes before race he was Interviewed. He said to presenter it won't win. Ground too soft for it. Did not win |

the biggest example in recent years of a racehorse not fancying it anymore is arrogate. he won the travers, breeders cup classic, big race at gulfstream and the dubai world cup in spectacular fashion. up there with the greatest ever win sequences by a US racehorse. in his next 3 races he clearly said no.......not interested. this is the biggest reason why stars get beaten. they are animals. the press dont discuss this side of horse racing. especially the flat. no trainer or owner is going to concede that their horse just didnt want it on the day. they cant say that about an entity worth millions.
Baeed has won on good to soft 4 times. he bolted in. the ground didnt prevent him from running past my prospero. maybe he got some mud in his face and got peed off........the same way some soccer players dont like playing in the cold. remember robinho or angel de maria?........im going off a bit here but horses are no different. |

That's why some women are as good as men, they can get the horse to run for them.
Many times a good horse that's gone off the boil is revived by a change of jockey. It's not that the new jockey is better, it's just that the horse responds to a change of rider. |

Probably not, but he'll be £80k and your "mud in his face" assertion is simply guesswork. There actually wasn't much mud flying; Visually, and most informed accounts suggests that the ground was testing/sticky. Remember there are many forms of Good to Soft! I'd be inclined to trust Crowley's view that he just didn't pick up on it. |

The ground wasnt that bad. Racing its so funny though. Aside from the media never criticising jockeys, trainers never hold their hands up and say the horse undrperformed or wasnt good enough. they always take the ground as excuse...

Lockinge and queen anne should be re-opened for three year olds. Baaeed had it too easy early on.

Crowley's view that he didn't pick up is blatantly obvious but whether it was due to the ground or not is anyone's guess. I don't think Crowley would have had his job for long if he had got off and said 'oh well, we just over rated him'.
