Backed 4 horses at SP in the 9.10 at Toowoomba this morning. Race never went live and was suspended afterwards for about 15 mins. One of my selections won at about 23. All I got was my stake back. I contacted customer services. After being told the race wasn't activated I was told my bets must have lapsed. After that I was told a lot of bets on the race were voided. I said well how was an SP published. Calculated manually apparently. They were sorry for the inconvenience. Very poor experience. I have withdrawn my funds.

If you - "Backed 4 horses at SP" - and a BSP was Returned/Determined (albeit calculated manually) - Then you must be Paid Out .... Unless...
You Placed your Bet AFTER the ACTUAL Race 'Off' time - although Betfair Failed to SUSPEND and Turn 'In-Play'.
In which case - They will correctly, say - 'All Bets placed AFTER the Official time of the Race Starting are VOID ....
Bets BEFORE that time will be honoured (Hence the, manually calculated, Betfair SP)

An SP Bet CANNOT - "lapse" ... But - It can be Voided - as above.
That is what happens when a Betfair SUSPEND Operator misses/Fails to Suspend a Race at the Actual 'Off'- as appears to have happened here.
Unusual for Betfair to miss the 'Off' on Australian Racing - as the Australia Suspend and Bet Settlement team are absolute Mustard, and far,far, Faster than UK Racing (Although, admittedly, potential and actual Stewards Enquiries in Australia are Minimal compared to the UK) so that will be the reason.
What Time did you Place your Bet, therefore?
Just why you have - "withdrawn my funds" - is absolutely Pointless
These incidents are minimal - Betfair will neither be aware, nor care, that you have taken your funds out of Betfair - and you are merely cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Similar scenarios have happened to us all in various shapes or form - Website crashes - Backed instead of Laying - Backed the wrong horse, just looking at the prices, with two horses with similar prices next to each other on the Market frame.
It always seems to go against you - as opposed to getting lucky - It's called 'Sod's Law'.
But, we are still here - as it is the only place to be.

The bet was placed before the official off.
I was most annoyed about the changing reason given by the customer service rep. It was their fault and I lost out. If I had backed with someone else on the tote it would have stood. Still don't understand why if there was a calculated SP I didn't get paid out. Who did get the SP payout?
Agree mistakes do happen and I have encountered the examples you quoted. I have even backed the wrong horse and won - its the universe evening things out.
