It seems the owner asked Kevin to be his private trainer, and when he refused, he took the horses away.

It would appear that Juan De Montalban and Cadillac have gone to George Boughey.
Report GEORGE.B August 31, 2022 11:35 AM BST
There are 24 horses in total but it's not clear where the others have gone.

Half of them were due to go to the Middle East anyway this winter, so he was losing those ones anyway.

As Sheikh Abdullah evidently has a few quid to quid to spend - he bought Cadillac on the eve of Royal Ascot for £500K - and looks to be expanding his string, perhaps it wouldn't have been a bad career move in the short term, at least, taking care of well bred, expensively bought horses.

But against that, I guess having all your eggs in one basket - and horses had been moved from other yards to Phillipart De Foy, so the owner evidently isn't afraid to take his horses away - might not be the best policy.

And, having to tell his other current owners that they're longer wanted, would not be very nice!

Big blow for an up and coming trainer.Strange because Boughey trains
for others.
  cheers.

Yes the guy was really making a name for himself that must have been a massive blow.

Finished in the short term

Seems to me trainers should be very wary about whos tent they get into.
Report GEORGE.B August 31, 2022 12:51 PM BST
Presumably, had he accepted the offer, then Phillipart De Foy would have been on a tasty salary?

Well, with trainers packing up and others having to survive the cost of living crisis, you know, I think I would have been tempted to accept!

On the face of it would agree George given current climate, however he has built up a good reputation in a short time so might be able to replace the loss with new owners. No idea of the stats re-private training relationships but they don't seem to last very long,Dascombe being an exception imo?

Being a Private Trainer usually goes tits up more often than not.

Forget the name of the guy a few seasons back who Trained for a Sheikh, was a dream job that turned into a nightmare and he packed up.

Putting all your eggs in one basket would be a very bad idea
Report in hell August 31, 2022 1:49 PM BST
Does he even have a basket now

Hugh Taylor sounds a big fan, judging from the plaudits he's given Phillipart De Foy in a couple of his recent columns, so who knows, he might get some of the Nick Bradley horses sent his way.
