Al Simmo's full sister had her first run in a handicap off a mark of 49 and showed first bit of real form.  Has been brought along patiently (unraced at two), as the owner said on one of the racing channels recently, as was Al Simmo.  They should have a good chance of winning some races with her although they will probably be happy to wait until she's a four year old. Fast ground and six furlongs probably best for both of them.

Good morning Onlooker. Good story.

I knew a man who always wanted to be a small breeder. The best filly he ever knew was named Pretty Polly and he decided if he could ever afford it he would buy one of her progeny. Eventually an unbroken mare name Brazen Molly appeared at the sales. She had already had one foal but it had died. She was barren so was bought for 400 gns. Brazen Molly eventually produced La Paiva for her owner. La Paiva was half blind, useless on the racecourse, eventually went completely blind and was barren every other year. One year, expecting her to be barren again, and to save money, they sent her to a stallion based just 200 yards away. The stallion was Queens Hussar and the foal she produced was named Brigadier Gerard. Possibly the greatest racehorse ever. Oh, and the man was named John Hislop. He died penniless and heavily in debt trying to breed another. Live the dream if you can.

I will delve further into the extended Pedigree when I get some time.

Of course I also am aware well aware of your very personal connection to Brigadier Gerard.

She has had a well-backed winner today, would have had an interest if I hadn't missed the price!

Nice win over seven furlongs at Carlisle yesterday for Al Simmo's full-sister, Albeseeingyer.  Stayed on nicely on a stiff course so may get further than 7. Was only a maiden handicap so mark shouldn't go up much. If she shows as much improvement as a four year old as her sister then definitely one to keep an eye on next year.

Another bit of improvement from Albeseeingyer today.

Ray Bailey has had 5 winners from 12 horses in the past 5 years so he is not that small an owner even if this is his first venture as a breeder. There are plenty of stories out there of breeders who get a load of good horses from a single foundation mare. Some old friends of mine started way back with a mare called Wayward Damsel. They were mainly aiming at jumping but decided to put the mare to a sprinter for her first foal and produced Polyandrist who won a few races and produced a lot of high class flat progeny including Cornuto, Phylogeny and Trigamy who were trained by Ryan Price and Mango Manila. The latest black type flat winner was Emma Peel. The best jumpers were Cuckolder, Wayward Prince and more recently Parsnip Pete. Anyone with records going back that far might find the names of others from the family. One started favourite for the National and another was among the favs for the Derby.

Never knew that about the Brigadier's pedigree so thanks for that, brigust.

In fact - A Hat-Trick for Albesseingyer  (Won Redar 5:38) - Full-Sister - to the Original inspiration of this Thread - Al Simmo (Now 7 successes - and still racing)


The Dam - and the Owner-Breeder also has a third Half-Sister to the above pair, and that is still racing, too - having Won 5 times, and second on her two latest outings.

So that is 3 more multiple Winning Mares for him to Breed from in the future.

I might be wrong but I think  we had B.G, dam at the I.N.S. in 1971 /72 or 1972 73 and I don't remember her been blind...Maybe I'm getting her mixed up with Windmill Girl who we also had that time..

La Paiva at the Irish National Stud? Not likely. She visited Royal Palace in 1972 and before that she visited Major Portion. In between time she visited Queens Hussar.

Impressive win for Albeseeingyer on her seasonal debut. Her sister won the same race off 57 as a 4 year old and finished the season rated 75. Hoping this one can do something similar with the added bonus she's now proven on soft ground. Probably will go up 5-6 lbs after today, anything less would be a gift.

It may be the turn of Alseeyerthere to keep up the family record and get her first win in the second race at Redcar.  Has taken longer than her sisters to get a win but being eased one pound for a promising seasonal debut should help her go close today.

Up 7 or 8 lbs at least for that.
