You need a magnifying glass to see the cards and The Wonderful 78-77 Formcast is finished because Nigel Taylor has retired, I know plenty of people who used to buy the paper just for the racing..

My dad has been moaning all week.

Could someone advise which daily has full cards, ratings, yesterday's tote returns, colours etc etc. Thanks

So have I. What used to be a really good racing page for a Daily has just sold out. Racing seems an inconvenience and how they can just abandon the ratings is beyond me. Pathetic excuse for a sporting section and I've cancelled my delivery. Looking for something else but can't stomach giving my money to the Mirror boys I get enough lectures at home without reading their rantings.

I know The Sun had colours a while back , although that plus stats was almost too much info all crammed in, need a happy medium.

I take it that you dont use online websites.

Not much use for a newspaper these days, unless you still have a couple of nails in the outhouse.

Hi all

The demise of the  daily mail forecast (nigel taylor) has taken away a little bit of form armoury, used for 40 years.

Trying the Racing Pist Rprs but not doesn’t seem as effective although early days.

Any ideas where anything approaching the formcast is available. Any thoughts thanks

My Dad is 89 and has a RTC DOS every day, he has stopped getting The Mail now because of the loss of the 78-77 Formcast..

As Luke Harvey said on the Opening Show a few weeks back , if picking the winner was as simple as picking the one with the highest rating then it would be easy  . What's so magical about the DM formcast?

I don't know about magical, but the compiler clearly made the effort, and it was something that the serious pros would never look at. So, when Formcast got it right and other ratings services wrong, you were rewarded with a decent price.

It really was an elderly dad's thing. It was what my own dad used when we used to meet up at Newbury twenty or thirty years ago. He was in his seventies or eighties back then. I would glance at his copy of the Mail sometimes, and quite often be surprised how Formcast would agree with me that some rag had a chance, while Racing Post ratings gave it none at all.

the old daily star used to run ken husseys ratings every day, tried the paper other day has bigger writing than the sun and had a free 2 bet with william hill for goodwood , the colors and some stats are good especially weekend and in the saturdays have sundays runners as well

Nigel Taylor was excellent and offered a quick guide to the strength of a race. Now he’s gone the Mail is virtually worthless!
