howard - I think that would have been the Trainer's instructions.

IMO trainer shouldnt be running it there, blatently obvious after last performance that the only way it got beat against that sort of rival is to be done for pace.

Mulrennan's got plenty of previous, was caught out in India, banned by Indian authorities after phone tapping evidence of him and another Brit jock conspiring to fix a race, yet the BHA, aided by the gravy-slurping shameless UK racing media, saw fit to overturn the ban when he returned to these shores! Now he's in a double act with fragrant media missus!

Only 2 places mulrennan could make a living as a jockey the UK and Ireland,  anywhere else he would be warned off or be lynched as has already been shown in Asia.
