I personally dont see the value in having a retained jockey unless its literally a Top 3 jockey. Jockeys come in and out of form and injuries and imo you are best using the best available you can. In no other sport do you have a guaranteed place, so why should racing be any different (cavaet: assuming you are trying)

Fahey has had a poor start to the Flat season with only Perfect Power & Umm Kultham winning anything of note. Hanagan looks like he's the whipping boy for it. The other jockeys he currently uses are no way better than, Paul. I know Clifford Lee is based with Burke, but he'd do well to give him some rides.
