He's good but this is the cream of the crop 3 milers

Very short considering he was outstayed in the RSA last season; 6/4 with proven 3-milers iffy. A tentative  bet is Galvin - final chance. I said the same about Hollow Games earlier.

I cannot have Minella Indo whatsoever.

Clan Des Obeaux, win and place, last year winner following the same route as last year via an Aintree victory. Good luck.
Report impossible123 April 27, 2022 5:59 PM BST
I cannot see CDO winning neither Allaho. I think they went too fast.

wow, some performance.Cool

Place money will do. Didn't jump well but his stamina got him a place.
Report impossible123 April 27, 2022 6:03 PM BST
How wrong can I be? Good thing it was the end of the season - minimal stake. But, a serious Gold Cup contender? I'd have my doubt; CDO was too pacey.

King George Winner theirCool

'Didn't jump as well as he can' according to Paul Townend.  Imagine if he had...

super horse
Report sageform April 27, 2022 6:05 PM BST
The first 2 had the others off the bit after a mile. Clan was very brave to hold on to second but the winner is just awesome.

Thought it at the time but again I'm thinking Galvin's win at Leopardstown was a bit of a fluke.

If A Plus Tard is still in his best form then why would you run Allaho in the Gold Cup as well when he can win the Ryanair without breaking sweat.
Report strontium April 27, 2022 6:16 PM BST
Yes, surely Allaho goes Ryanair if APT is fit. He was impressive today, but didn't look like he wants an extra 2 1/2 f. I'd love to see Allaho in the King George though.
Report vinnie_roe April 27, 2022 6:18 PM BST
Bryan Cooper said that it was the fastest gold cup that he's raced in.
Report sixtwosix April 27, 2022 6:25 PM BST
What a performance and what a terrific race ....mind the whole card has had super finishes today .
Report impossible123 April 27, 2022 6:28 PM BST
His victory was visually impressive however, he beat nothing today eg CDO, ABP and Kemboy - all aging and regressing; Galvin (a plodder) and over-lauded when chinning a tired APT; fakir - a non-stayer over 3m.
Report carrot1960 April 27, 2022 6:30 PM BST
Time 6m. 27.70 secs, which is the same as the course average on today's going
Report sixtwosix April 27, 2022 6:34 PM BST
Yes he only beat the King George winner , Gold Cup runner up , Savills Chase winner (only horse to beat Gold Cup winner this season) .....LaughLaughLaugh ....talk about a glass half empty view.......
Report jimnast April 27, 2022 6:45 PM BST
And two grade one winners from aintree
Report impossible123 April 27, 2022 6:55 PM BST
No doubt Allaho was the best horse and deserved to win. However, this Punchestown contest was littered with mediocrity eg CDO & Tornado Flyer (winners of weak King George) - former is regressing; Minella Indo - regressing); Galvin (a plodder) greatest claim to fame is beating a fatigue betfair winner APT in The Savills. I think the rest are non-entities and past it and will not run in a Gold Cup ever again.
Report strontium April 27, 2022 7:03 PM BST
That race had a dual Ryanair winner, two King Gerogre winners (three between them), two Gold Cup winners (three between them), a Savills Chase winner, an Irish Gold Cup winner... Every horse in the race had previously won a Grade 1 chase, and they'd won 23 between them. if you think that's mediocrity, you're watching the wrong sport.
Report impossible123 April 27, 2022 7:15 PM BST
But they are all regressing eg CDO/ABP/MI/K or unreasonably lauded eg Galvin; Tornado Flyer only won a race since Jan 20 beating CDO in the soft!

2022 King George eg CH/MI could be the basement of all King Georges.
Report JJmbe April 27, 2022 7:23 PM BST
King george would seem perfect fit fot ther horse.
Report MJK April 27, 2022 7:37 PM BST
Horse is much better going left handed though
Report LoyalHoncho April 27, 2022 7:39 PM BST
My thoughts too.  RH course which favours pace.  What a performance.
Report penzance April 27, 2022 7:41 PM BST
Right hand track today, did'nt stop him.
Report LoyalHoncho April 27, 2022 7:41 PM BST
Well if he is much better that way round the rest have a problem, don;t they.
Report impossible123 April 27, 2022 8:13 PM BST
I'll back him for the King George. The big question is will Mr Mullins bring him over? He's in the same ownership as A Plus Tard.

The horses best piece of 3 mile form to date was today, think rh tight kempton would be perfect.

Report strontium April 27, 2022 8:31 PM BST
Because the John Durkan is the only 2 1/2 mile grade 1 in Ireland, they have to look for other opportunities for him. The question is, would Mullins think that running him in the King George mid-season would compromise his chances at Cheltenham?
Report impossible123 April 27, 2022 9:14 PM BST
I do not think he'll go for The Savills given A Plus Tard (same ownership) tend to stick to a success formula) thus more likely King George; stable precedent is Vautour. And, owner sent APT for the Betfair Chase.
Report strontium April 27, 2022 9:37 PM BST
I hope so - his racing style looks perfect for Kempton.
Report isleham April 27, 2022 11:53 PM BST
Owner didn't send APT to Haycock Mullins did.
Owners have absolutely no say where their horses go in the Mullin's yard
Report penzance April 28, 2022 12:07 AM BST
He did well there,as De Bromhead trains him.

Sorry what an idiot I am..only excuse late night post after heavy day at Punchestown.
The gist of my post was meant to be the owners of Allaho won't decide about KG it will be totally a WM decision
