Mullan has been sentenced to ten years. He was not really cut out for this robbing game. 10 years for five robberies which netted a total of less than £3,000. He was caught because he dodged the train fare on his way to the robberies and gave his real name to the ticket inspector.

Here is the Evening Standard report from
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/serial-robber-brett-mullan-flying-squad-police-south-london-bookmakers-b1016094.html

Serial robber who ‘terrified’ south London bookmakers jailed
Brett Mullan used threats of violence to steal almost £3,000

A serial robber who targeted a string of bookmakers in south London was arrested by Flying Squad police officers and jailed for 10 years.

Brett Mullan, 50, of Gravesend, “terrified” staff at bookmakers when he “demanded cash and made threats of serious violence”, Met Police said.

“Those people feared for their lives,” said Detective Constable Carl Stallabras.

Mullan carried out a series of armed robberies at bookmakers in Lee, Noorwood, Sutton and Crayford between April 4 and 24.

Met Police used CCTV of Mullan travelling on trains to track him down.

He was stopped on a train by a railway ticket inspector as he was making his way to Burnt Ash Road in Lee to carry out his second robbery. He provided his real name.

“A simple mistake on his way to the second offence was all we needed to track him down, and from there the wealth of evidence we obtained left him no choice but to plead guilty,” said Mr Stallabras.

Police gathered footage of Mullan carrying out the offences and he was arrested by Flying Squad officers on April 25 after leaving home.

The Flying Squad are the Met’s elite group of detectives tasked with tackling violent crime.

Detectives searched his home address and found a collapsible walking stick. After checking CCTV, it was discovered this was what he used to resemble a shotgun by concealing it within a carrier bag.

A total of £2,780 was stolen over the course of the robberies.

Mullan was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court after pleading guilty to five counts of robbery, and five counts of possessing an imitation firearm.

The offences took place in High Street, Sutton, on April 4, Burnt Ash Road in Lee on April 13 and 18, High Street in Norwood Junction on April 23 and Crayford Road on April 24.

I got robbed at knife point(no security screens), just 5 days after the same guy robbed the same shop.

The first time he got £93, he took out a fobt cash box with £500 in it but left it.
It was the day before the grand national and he came in alone around 9 with a large Bowie knife.
He returned with an accomplice around 7.45 on the Wednesday and got just over £200

They were never caught.

long ago i found there was a gaping hole in one of the big firms security so i got a job there. every shop i was in, i got a key cut, not that you needed to as there were so many knocking around. when a manger had a day off, they would leave the safe code on a pad for the relief manager.

id send my mate in with a load of bets for late settling events like poofball coupons and irish lotto and ppots at wolver. they would go through the till and put in the safe, to be settled next morning. id go in at 4 am, open safe, stick in a few winners and send him back in next day. anything under 3k wasnt checked. we had 4 shops to go at and it was the greatest but typically, i messed it up by staying in boozer all night, and made a mistake on a ppot that lead to it paying a bazillion quid.

camera came out, alarm bells and every big payout was checked going back 3 months. could have gone on until epos came in. wac.

they knew it was me but couldnt do anything about it.
