There was a Lafayette around 20 years ago, trained initially by Alec Stewart and later by Robbie Osborne, won a few races and was placed in a Galway Hurdle.
But note Noel Meade's current horse is called LAYFATETTE. Clive Brittain trained Lafontaine in the early '80s

His sire French Navy was a late maturing, likable (he was to me) type and this guy looks like following him along the same path. Will surely pick up more races this season

Will look up it's full history later.

Lafontaine went on to win the Cumberland Lodge as a 5-y-old entire in 1982 and was eventually retired to stud in Ireland at the end of the 1983 season. He was owned by Mrs J Bigg, possibly the wife of the 1959 Grand National winning owner, John Bigg.

After timing, I was quite young but won £320 quid on it and went straight out to buy a Canon A1 camera with the proceeds.
