I’m waiting on two races others at Naas to be priced up and am hoping one at Hereford drifts.

Todays unlucky second, Teddy Blue isn’t entered in the boodles! Seems abit strange, so they obviously expected a big run as his in the Triumph.
I’ve just had a small ew on him at 20/1 with skybet as he would of won if he didn’t hit the last.

The Juvenile hurdle was 1.8 seconds slower than the novice hurdle, carrying 2lb less which isn’t to bad compared to some other juveniles that have been finishing 5-12 seconds slower than other 2m hurdle races on the same card.

Knight salute has been the best juvenile on times so far imo, maybe thats just because the Irish races have been run at a slower clip, but Porticello has also backed up knight salutes Doncaster win twice with decent times.

I’ve just had my joint biggest bet of this years Cheltenham festival to rival my Gallopin des champs one, and this one is a lovely ew price of 5/1. Can’t wait for 16 days time!

Fingers crossed the handicapper hasn’t got his glasses on when watching the replays of this blatant non trier in his last two runs!

Know nothing about the Trainer, horse placed in its sole point. Thought it ran well enough last time to figure. Out to 7/1 this morning. On bog 365. Only to £20.

A bit of a chance bet is my take on it.

The nag I thought was a good price at 6/1 is 16s now. What do I know about Hunter Chases.... Ziltch according to the market.

Backed it 3 places at 2.9 to cover the stake.

Champagne Court did not run as well as it normally does today.

Nice 2nd barstool, good work and decent enough stakes.

The Hunter chase is the race I normally know least about at the festival so my questions were out of curiosity.

The best I ever got at hunter chases was at the back end of a season I was trialling laying the least experienced jockey in the race. I was only laying for a liability of a tenner which actually worked well, having something mad like 50 odd winning lays in a row! It was only over a period of about two months, just after the Cheltenham festival.
It sounds better than it was though as sometimes these donkeys were going off massive odds, meaning I was only winning a few pence on some of those races.

By the time the hunter chases reappeared on the calendar, I’d moved on to the next crackpot idea and never tried this again lol.

The Kim muir and 4 miler are always worth checking jockey strikerates to check these lesser jockeys are capable.
I’ve never found the Martin pipe as good for this though.
Elliott always seems to send a capable jockey even if the strikerate says otherwise like Lisa O’Neil, rob James and Jordan gainford in the last few years.

Does anyone else have any theories on these races without the top jockeys?

I was actually kicking myself for only putting 1 point win on it tbh as I found excuses for its last two defeats, has improved for different headgear combo, and it’s best 2m 4 soft.
I had a minor reservation with the track so think it could improve away from Kempton and Wincanton and possibly be ready to now step up in trip as he did atleast plug on past the 3rd.

No more bets for Thursday although Stop Talking is drifting so I’ve backed it again. I’ll keep the tip the same on here though.

Having a pot in the Hunter at Ludlow and have put £50 up at 2/1 (hoping to get matched) on bf and the daq on Not That Fuisse in the 4.00 race. Going very well when b/d last run here (I backed it). Cannot see Give Me A Copper beating it on this c&d.

Will be making a note of your selections in the handicaps and may well have a small ew multiple on the Tuesday of the meet.

No other selections for Friday, although I was interested in two Nicholls selections at Newbury but am still not convinced they are fully over the bug, his 19% last 14 days, so nearly better.

I backed Flooring Porter first time out when I thought he was about to hose up before just clipping the top of the hurdle.
Gavin Cromwell had exactly the same poor run of form in January and February last season before striking at Cheltenham.

I’ve not really looked at the stayers Hurdle yet, but the worry for Flooring Porter is the crowd freaking him out as his mad winning run was all behind closed doors I think, and he got buzzy before the Punchestown festival.

I’m starting to think Klassical dream is a nice price although I’ve not backed it yet. He’ll love it soft or heavy and Townend didn’t ride him in the finish last time out atall. I’ve noticed him do it with to a few others in the last week so I think Mullins is just giving them a run out. If they win, they are mainly winning on the bridle, with festival targets in March, April and may the priority.

I’m approaching my form analysis differently this season, including my two ante post selections, but I may still change back to my tried and tested methods when looking at the Tuesday and Wednesday on the old course once the final decs are announced.

Personally I wouldn’t back my selections on day 3 or 4 if my previous history is anything to go by, but I think I’ll try this seasons way of doing things in those races. It may just be that I start on the Sunday, and then slowly just run out of time as the week progresses, meaning I’m rushing some of the races and don’t recall ever winning much on Gold Cup day, so tread carefully if you follow me in ;)

Ludlow going looks heavy now.

Stop Talking clearly did not see out the trip in it.

No joy today with Stop Talking going from 4/1 to 20/1 and the other backed from 3/1 into 10/11, only for the inexperienced jockey being weak in the finish imo.

I just watched back my 66/1 shot at Navan yesterday…. Jockey had to switch him twice, hit a fence, then stayed on to go down by a head! Sooo close!

Looks like you have a couple of non runners EB. Hard luck yesterday with the long shot.

Saint D'oroux was disadvantaged yesterday when it became a 4 hurdles race due to low sun. It had to go very wide to get a run from the rear and also did not get the best of run due to the third horse taken its ground in the last furlong or so. One to watch out for if it runs in the Coral Cup.

Just a couple for today, both at Sedgefield Beat Box 3/1 (1.00) Twoshotsoftequila evs (3.48)

Beat Box finished full of running in fourth for young apprentice, slightly stiffer track or a couple of extra furlongs will help. A race in it off current mark for sure.

Mac Tottie ran well without be asked to do a lot. He will drop a pound or two now for his main target this year --The Topham Chase, next month at Aintree.

Peter Bowen won it three years in a row back in 2010,11,12 with Always Waining and this horse may well win it again fo him. Should get in on about 10st 8lb now.
