Never heard anything like it. You get a bit of noise on the student days in Ireland, but this is in a different league.

Why? If it's drinking related surprised Harvey hasn't investigated.
Report The Spinmaster December 31, 2021 2:54 PM GMT
it was that drunken line "please don't take me home".....
Report ItsMeSwaddle December 31, 2021 3:14 PM GMT

Dont like drunkenness at the racing myself ,but if it was a good natured singalong then good on them as unluckyfor some says it is New Years Eve .Sounded great atmosphere ,let the folks enjoy themselves .
Report jimnast December 31, 2021 5:00 PM GMT
Perhaps if they could have heard the commentary today they would not have started singing shocking performance by the racecourse still waiting for them to tell the crowd what was 3 rd in the last.
Report Dr Crippen December 31, 2021 5:07 PM GMT
You can't blame people for enjoying themselves.
I was at Uttoxeter some years ago, and one section of the crowd let out a cheer everything their horse which was leading jumped a fence.
It won and they all went barmy.

Aintree Grand National meeting decades ago is one the roughest place I've ever been. I won't go into details.
We soon transfered to Tatts. It was like walking into a different world there.

irishone is correct. it is a peculiarly british problem. i will not go to any meeting where a large crowd is expected. except perth, which seems immune to this contagion

You go to a football match to watch the game ffs
You should go to the races to watch the horses

How bad is british life if you pay over a fiver a pint , do drugs at a horse racing event

B ums on seats and sponsors dosh - all that matters to racecourses today.  To h ell with good behaviour it seems.

perth is a grim racecourse  took my whole family with me there a few years back when they were young.

misearable scots totally ignored us giving us evil stares (My wife is mixed race ) and totally ignored me at the bar when trying to get served - i assume coz i am English, would never darken their doors againDevil

Seemed good humoured to me.I decided many years ago that Ascot should hold a tea party/fashion parade/pi55 up/brawl from say midday until 5pm, at each day of the royal meeting. I would attend and watch the 'My Fair Ladies' revert to Eliza Dolittle with each mouthful. At 5pm the toffs and the pond life would be escorted off the premises, and racing fans could inhabit the steppings to watch the cream of horse racing!

Nothing to do with you being English Dragon, clearly it is your demeanour and attitude.  However, Perth has most certainly gone downhill as hordes of Eliza Doolittles ( great line Christysonfire ) now seem to dominate the market thinking of the place.
