I think they are deciding whether all in-play bets need to be voided to which the obvious answer is yes, if the site went down/stalled mid-race, that's the policy.

they paid out on my 12.00 race immediately and that was a mid faulty race

it will be resettled then.

I have seen lots of usa races and uk races thought where the market has been suspended early that has been paid out though
By:
from (bad)experience suspended early is viewed differently to site crashing.
By:
whatever occurred is a mess for all no ones a winner, people are missing hundreds of pounds missing bets missing funds account statement ok account balance differing etc
and from what I see betfair are not communicating anywhere on what steps they are looking to moving forward. |
By:
That sums it up nicely ballyregan, it's been nearly 24 hours now

A US race got re-settled 7 days later so don't hold yer breaths!
By:
I have had lots of fixes on my account statement as you say 7 to 10 days later swifty
some good some bad didn't know the definitive ruling with crashes but I am sure if some powerful gambler complained they was on the end of a bad inrunning play in the 12.00 the market will be resettled soon. |
By:
The big issue with yesterday's crash was that it was obvious that someone, somehow, still had access to the markets even though most of us were unable to place bets either through the website or the API. The questions that need to be addressed are how and why.

In the same boat. Account balance wrong compared to statement
By:
I'd email Peter Jackson about that. No point talking to live chat.
That is a serious issue If the site is down then it should be down for all. Picking off keep bets stinks |

Can anyone clarify if the in running market on the 12-10 lingfield yesterday was made void. I had a 1.37 keep bet unmatched on the second which timeform had as 1-01. ??
By:
Anyone else still waiting for a refund? The useless bar stewards still haven't settled my account.
By:
I'm amazed Betfair haven't voided ALL bets on the pre race and in running markets on the 12.10 Lingfield. Quite clearly some people had access to the race markets, yet the majority did not. It sounds like they're only voiding bets after customers have made a complaint. Disgraceful!
By:
WP, they can't void pre-race. You place a bet in the morning, they're in competition with bookmakers after all, that's bet struck.
What goes on in the afternoon isn't your problem. Imagine you placed a bet with a bookie and they did the same?! As for in-running that's the issue. But they have to void in-running or in-play traders wouldn't play and in-running would die, if it isn't dying already. |

Sounds like people were placing bets but they weren't sure if they went through and then placed the exact same bets again. So basically they had no confirmation that the bets were placed or not? Or am I wrong on this? If I'm not? Then its completely unacceptable and bets placed during this time should most certainly be voided.

Thats exactly what happened to me in the 12-10 Lingfield, ended up with 2 place bets instead of 1, luckily the horse placed. !!! SHAMBOLIC. |

Sounds like people were placing bets but they weren't sure if they went through It's actually a bit more damning than that for Betfair imo - For the pre-race bets, people would have actually been given a message advising that there was "an error processing" their bet. i.e. they would have been given written confirmation that their bet had NOT been processed! Which in all likelihood would lead to individuals placing the bet again and/or several more times! Obviously Betfair having given written confirmation that a bet has not been processed should return the stakes. However, it's a betting exchange, so the individuals on the other side of those (unintended) duplicate/triplicate/multiple bets (already sitting waiting prior to the crash) have done nothing wrong either and (quite rightly) want their bets to be paid. It looks like the only FAIR outcome is that Betfair finally actually pay for one of their c0ck-ups and for the first time ever it costs them (quite a bit I would imagine) rather than costs their customers. That could be a good outcome all round because paying for mistakes is the best incentive to avoid them in the future. Getting away with it for year after year has not led to any improvements and assuming it costs them a deal of money, perhaps somebody will be held accountable and assigned to avoid repetition. |

I've now been offered a full refund but had to work for it. Interestingly, it's showing as an Exchange bonus rather than a refund implying no mistake was made by Betfair but they're just being very generous. Yeah right.
By:
Making you "work for it" is bang out of order boz2 but congrats on getting it anyway.
You'd have to suspect they are up to their usual tricks i.e. rather than applying an across the board "fix" to make up for their error and their incompetence, they will just reluctantly pay out to those that contact them and make the most noise - but they will just let it stand for the people that don't bother to contact them. |
By:
i.e 50 exchange bonus equals you have back to an evens winner to get 50 cash back what you are owed
customers just accept these bonuses because they dont want hassle betfair should be refunding your cash plus inconvenience compensation |
By:
The Management: totally agree. My refund is described as a 'goodwill gesture'. I'm off to the supermarket shortly. Don't think I'll bother paying for anything unless I get stopped on the way out when I'll offer to pay as a 'goodwill gesture' for stuff that's not rightfully mine. I'm sure they'll be fine with that.
