The crying shame is its these jocks like Mulrennan that are killing the game riding blatant non triers. Jinxy is correct though, its the exchanges (and poor prize money) that has made cheating far more profitable than running horses on their merits.

Mulrennan was NEVER going to give that horse a ride well before it left the stalls , any one with any racing knowledge could see that !

The BHA recently dished out a 42-day ban to conditional jump jockey Patrick Cowley for a similar offence. Hopefully this senior jockey will be treated even more sternly.

In just about every other sport I can think of, the ban for the equivalent type of offence would be measured in years, not days (and rightly so).

the frustrating thing is that any race reader can see what is going on , and even if the authorities could also see it, there is not much they can do as he is very good at making it look like he was "denied a clear run"

Spot on Wesdag.....one of the worst non triers I have seen, although the last one I recall being as equally repulsive was also ridden by Mulrennan so its certainly not a one of a kind.

As Pablo points out, the excuses given afterwards and the rides themselves are Mulrennans MO, unfortunately the stewards arent the brightest people around.

Rare I reply to jockey slagging threads and if I do it usually is sarcastic "Pocket talking" but that ride was blatantly a non trier and yes picked my pocket.How many others though as the horse was heavily backed?
