Blackrock 2:40 improving rapidly sprinter..value for more than a 3Lb rise for lto win over 5f..as it wants 6f.. has a few lbs in hand of its mark of 94 imo and billy g taking off 3Lb leaves its 5-6LB well in imo Ostilio 3:40..listed winner last yr..went to midegley and then ran 5-6 times dismally..has come back to form and imo has been laid out for this..ran a blinder last twice and lto eyecatcher over 5f at bev as a warm up for this
of course risking £ in 25 runner h/caps isnt shrewd but anyways..ive bet blackrock at 6's and ostilio at 12's and had an few ew doubles..hoping sundays racing post headlines reads
Billy G doubles up..gl

Hope you took both the Draw and the possible Weather in your deliberations. I’m just looking for 1 in each race to Lay, and that’s giving me a headache.

As ever - it's surely all about the going and the draw!
Yesterday the effect of the draw in the sprints at Ayr was very clear cut and a licence to print money if you are a layer (or if you have any sense a place layer):
From the 4 races run between 5f and 6f at Ayr yesterday there were (a combined) 32 runners with a double figure draw (i.e. drawn 10 or higher). Just one of those 32 runners reached the frame (Danzan - 3rd in the 15:20).
Unfortunately it has rained since yesterday!

Rico - The Bronze Cup yesterday was 22 runners - todays two races (Silver & Gold cups) are both only 2 runners more (24 runners).
Admittedly most horses generally ran as "centrally" as their starting stall position would allow yesterday - but for those drawn high that either had to, or chose to stay towards the near side - they may as well have stayed at home. The same was also true to some extent in the preceding 3 races imo.
Totally agree that yesterday is now probably irrelevant - but that is due to the weather.

I place layed about a dozen, mostly to a fixed liability across the 14:10, 14:45 & 15:20 and none of them placed - the most notable win (where I got slightly over-exposed) was probably Tweet Tweet in the fillies Listed Race because I continued to lay her as the money kept coming and coming for her until she was a silly price (imo). Thought she ran a big race under the circumstances - but she never looked like placing imo.
I did NOT total a bag on the day so that is indicative of my stakes but to pre-empt your next post - I won't be posting my day, my week, my month, my 3 months or my lifetime portal
Just pointing out that a high draw was a major disadvantage yesterday imo and happily admitting that I don't know (yet) what today will bring because the going has changed since yesterday.

Nice to see you posting a couple of proper selections Rico, good luck. Think trying to lay 1 horse in the Ayr Gold Cup and similar cavalry charges could cost you dear Rothman Mike, ask Rico he knows! TM what made you so sure high numbers would be at a disadvantage yesterday if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Stewarts - I have the Ayr draw as variable/unpredictable on middling (i.e. good) ground - but feel in the extremes of going there is usually a distinct draw advantage over the 5f-6f races. Very broadly high drawn in proper soft and low drawn on proper firmer ground is my take - but at nearly all courses things can change and you have to keep an open mind. I was unsure at start of play yesterday (good to firm) if I would get involved at all. Then the nursery (13:35 race) gave me enough encouragement that far side and middle would have an advantage.
Probably fair to say I took a chance on limited/patchy evidence but it panned out ok for me (which isn't always the case). Yesterday it turned out nicely and it got progressively more obvious yesterday (imo) yet it didn't seem to be impacting prices.

If you think that race wasn't all about the draw - you need to have a break from the game. Also think I made it pretty clear that I didn't think (the draw) today would be the same as yesterday. Maybe you should read what I actually wrote?
I don't mind admitting I place laid the winner (at about 3.70 average) after the Bronze race - but it will take a bit more than that to clean me out. I think I also made it pretty clear that I lay to a fixed liability and that I place lay more than one in a race! How did the others drawn high get on iyo?
Cracking ride on the winner though - I would say a brave ride (but he had no other options really).

Life's too short - and I didn't walk the course - so it's probably easier for me just to agree with you; that on the firm side of good (Friday) is exactly the same as very slightly on the soft side of good (Saturday).
To be honest and in your defence - when they're jogging, walking dogs and driving a Land Rover up and down the sides of it - it probably doesn't matter what they report. GL.

Hard to disagree with Stewarty, only recently (This week?) stated he does not back horses to win as it does not pay?
Not enough attention bullying others maybe?

glentoboy....he is a dreadful tipster..without the fast pictures he would have zero chance of making money but does it matter how you make money...he has found a way to win and good luck to him
