Wow - It's my 20th Forum Birthday (Joined: 07 Sep 01)

Biggest mistake I made changing my forum name to this.

The thick mods look at my forum name and assume I'm a bad un, so they ban me.

LOL - even Crippen was allowed to change his name, when he tried to flee back across the Atlantic.

Yes its my 19th today and a proper forum birthday as this is my only account and never felt the need for opening numerous other accounts.

Congrats poppydog. U r certainly one of the early ones. Betfair was so different back then just after flutter. So many mistakes were made with fat fingers

I can't remember my previous Flutter/Betfair Forum usernames, but I distinctly remember taking part in the manic Betfair Forum chat
during Big Brother 1 (Nasty Nick/Craig etc.).

Not sure if there was a Big Brother Market or everyone just engaged like the nation was.

Google tells me this was July-Sept 2000, so it may have been either Flutter or Betfair.

Also, excited talk about the brilliant Montjeu cruising home in the King George Stakes.

Also, my favourite Forum joke was very early, when someone enquired about a tackling a home problem with ants.
'Unplug their jukebox' was the genius reply.

It was my 20th Betfair Birthday 2 days ago!! Big thanks to Betfair for the birthday cake and £1000 of free bets!!

I remember the rolling forum Poppydog. All sports fighting for the same space. Say a Liverpool derby on, a big race meeting, rugby etc. all on at the same time, it was rather chaotic!

iwas 4000th to join. dunno when that was. my 4th incarnation, and the worst. wish i was still allah. they couldnt wait to bin him.

All i get on my birthday,is a betfair coffee mug,a betfair key ring,a betfair pen,a betfair tee shirt(too small) and a betfair note book,and they say i am a valued customer.but no free bet.and i have my name down in the promotions office.
All the other gambling companies give free bets.why is this?

but i will say one thing,betfair are best of all at christmas  with the christmas parcel ,the wallet and the free bet £50 is cool.

Lost too much in the first 5 years or so,but last 10 years pulling it back.
Still a lot behind, but should reach parity in next 4 or 5 years.
This is a hard game, and you must learn the lessons as you go along.

it was flutter before betfair i was on first day oaks day epsom 2000 ? i seem to recall maybe 2500 on the race, flutter was the better exchange and had the edge but betfair had the money and bought them out quickly the guys from flutter all got share options so they will have done very well, eventually it all changed over to betfair i never did get my money transferred over from flutter

i did have a date on the forum 2001 ? i did have another name but no forum before that it still active has a couple of quid in but i cant remember it lol

Mostly old arbers with extra accounts. Makes me laugh when someone with an old username with a thousand or so comments comes on telling you about how it was in the old days when they were on the forum before and remember janov, chompy and all sorts of ancient names to impress us how long he has been around.

chompy - now there's a blast from the past name.

Can't remember why, but I do remember him posting a lot in past for some reason?


Like some above, I was on Flutter before BF, now those were the ancient history days in peer to peer for sure, us pioneers!

Chompy is one of the spotlight writers in the Racing Post nowadays.

I had to change my account when I moved to Spain for some reason in 2004, always had this username but with a space though. When I asked to have the same name they said no as it was already taken. I said well yes, taken by me! But the powers that be said this one was ok though but no space. Bit bonkers if you ask me but there you go.

cant remember why changing a name i did want to use the original but for some reason couldent id have it back think it was d-ck head or something like that, the date shown was when you joined the forum not when you joined betfair
