My eyesight isn't brilliant, but the winning distance on the bottom image looks bigger than the winning distance on the top image.
How does that happen???

Yes  why we've got the proper angle for the photo on Racing TV now but not the previous race?  Whilst that photo shows the correct winner it is a very odd photo

As well as the neck and head looking a bit irregular, the horses appears to be squashed too,
looks a good bit shorter in length than the runner up.

Why did they not show the slow mo from the camera on the line like they did the clear winner 5:45?

6:15 another clear winner...they show the slow mo on the line
Do they hold that image back when theres a photo?
Report asparagus • August 22, 2021 6:23 PM BST
Someone should certainly bet asking racing tv why they haven't got the crossing the line slow mo  footage for for the 4.50 yet did for the 5.20. All very odd particularly considering the previous Sandown has of calling wrong results and supposedly cameras at the wrong angle.
Report dustybin • August 22, 2021 6:54 PM BST
6:45 clear winner, they show the slow mo on the line

I went back to watch the race coverage for the 4:50 to see if they actually did show the slow mo, and they didnt, if they want to contest the fact I have it recorded.

So why do they not show the slow mo at Sandown for Photos?

a yard before the line the far side is a foot in front..in non of these pics could this side have won..the angle of the camera from the grandstand cannot possibly be as where it looks.

Aside from the alligator on the near-side, the far-side horse's off-fore looks more like a knitting needle than a horse's leg!  V dodgy photo.

No wonder it's been taken down!

Report dave1357 • August 23, 2021 9:08 AM BST
just as an aside there are often distortions on "photos" are they are basically a continuous video of an area one pixel wide.
Report dustybin • August 23, 2021 10:07 AM BST
Right I have just reviewed all the data again to be sure and here are the facts (and all races are freely available to review:)
.
https://www.racingtv.com/videos/watch/horse_racing_replays/350695-sky-bet-sunday-series-newcomers-ebf-maiden-stakes-4

3:55 = Clear winner, showed Slow mo on line. (No betting due to result)
4:20 = Clear winner, showed Slow mo on line. (No betting due to result) [This was the second closest finish after the debacle in the 4:50 and the Slow Mo was 'paused'???? before they reached the line??
4:50 = Contested winner, No Slow Mo (betting available as high as 1/100 in error)
(The commentator called it 'wrong', the quiff called it 'wrong' and Franny the ex jock called it 'wrong'
Franny said. 'It will be interesting to see the slow mo if we have access to it....'
The quiff said, 'It wouldnt be Sandown without a tight photo...'

5:20 = Clear winner, showed Slow mo on line. (No betting due to result)
5:45 = Clear winner, showed Slow mo on line. (No betting due to result)
6:15 = Clear winner, showed Slow mo on line. (No betting due to result)
6:45 = Clear winner, showed Slow mo on line. (No betting due to result)

So can somebody explain to me why they have no problems showing the Slow Mo when it isnt needed for anything, but for the one race it was required it scandalously wasnt shown, Fran implied there could be a possibility it wouldnt be shown, and the quiff observed that tight finishes are a constant issue at Sandown.

Is it, at best incompetence that the Slow Mo isnt shown when required, or is it something more sinister and purposefully not shown (and the second closest finish was paused before the line...was somebody 'pre-empting' something there?)
Who decides whether the Slow Mo is shown?
