I adore this race at my favourite course. I was lucky enough to be there in person when Muthmir won it a few years ago and it's always fun to throw a dart at it.
Scanning the field this year it's hard not to be drawn to Muscika (16/1) as a value pick. He has a record over CD of 38221, with three of those figures coming in this very race and the last time Angus Villiers was aboard he won at York over 5f off the same mark as he finds himself on here. In fact, his last four victories have come off marks of 87, 87, 87 & 88. So the fact he's back down to 88 once more is another facet in his favour. He really has to be an EW play at the prices.
Of the rest it's the two at the head of the market that worry me, but they cannot be considered value. Mondammej (6/1) has been knocking on the door a lot this season and can consider himself unlucky a couple of times. His turn can't be far away. While Golden Apollo (8/1) doesn't win that often but like Muscika has a great record over CD (5 top four finishes from 8 tries) and is 242 in this race from marks higher then he's on here.
I'm tempted by an EW single on Musicka and combination forecasts and tricasts involving all three.

Thanks for posting at least you got Value!
Having looked through the race I though I might have an e/w on Lahore who won a C2 in July 2020 at York and is back down in grade and mark but has been backed from 18/1 into 10/1 already and that just seems too short for me; will see if it drifts later. I see stalls are FAR SIDE, is that HIGH or LOW? |

GL VK. I don't bet early much these days but I think Starshiba will run well Ascot 3.00 so got a few small e.ways on yesterday with 6 and 7 places. Shortened with the firms but will probably drift before the off.

Well that was a funny old event.
Musicka halved in price yesterday and then drifted back out to 16/1 come the off before rearing at the start and losing ground at the start (normally up with the pace). The variance can throw up odd situations so we chalk this one off and move on :) |
